The stereo/CD player in my 01 RT/10 is skipping, and after a cleaning nothing has changed. What would be a decent replacement unit?

Most Eclipse units sound great. They have some very affordable ones for the sound quality. I just put one in my Gen 1 Viper and WOW what a difference. I am a home stereo audiophile type and the Eclipse satisfied me enough. It's was not worth it for me to spend thousands for a great system anyway because you cannot hear it that well in a Viper!!!!! I will give you the model number if you need me to, but if you look at an Eclipse for around $225, that would be about the right one. After that price, all you are getting is more gadgets and not any better sound. Good luck.

Do any of you have problems with aftermarket speakers? When i have the top off my gen 1, it seems like the top subwoofer takes in too much wind and causes alot of distortion. I fixed the problem by placing a thin sheet of plexiglass over top of it, but wanted to know if anybody else experienced the same thing

High end Pioneers have some pretty sweet DACs and are uber reliable. The Nakamichis are super nice and aren't too flashy and annoying at night. Eclipses are good too, but I prefer the higher echelon Pioneer sound quality.

Just put one of these in Randy, that will solve all your stereo woes and along with a quality head unit you cant go wrong.

Eclipse, Higher end Alpines, and Kenwood Excelons would be what I would choose from. If you are running external amps, buy a pre-amp unit. Otherwise, they will all sound similar. Remember to upgrade your speakers while you are at it. I have a Pioneer Z2 in my STi, and it sounds great, but I do have all upper end equipment to help it out.
