So, I was testing out a set of gears vs. a Vec 3 the yesterday. I had the gears installed and my buddy had the vec 3. We were going to do a short spring from 60-120. I started in 4th (perhaps I should have started in 3rd?) around 2k and then took it all the way to 4500 and shifted to 5th and he started pulling away from me...after something didn't feel right I put it in nuetral and that's when i felt a large clunking in my right rear area...thuoght it could have been a half shaft, that it could have been the drive shaft, thought it could have been lug nuts coming loose...etc...and to boot I ran over bolt on the highway and one of my tires was getting low. after a long night of waiting and stressing another friend of mine dropped what he was doing and drove over an hour with a trailer to come pick me up and take me and the car home. We got home and my tire was flat, but only had to drive it in the driveway...and that is when we found out what happened. The bolt I drove over...almost 5 INCHES LONG!!!! Ya, that clunking was the bold pushing agianst the rim and the pavement.
So....now I need a passenger side 335/30/18 Pilot Sport tire...with a good amount of new tread (the other side is almost brand new)...anyone have one by chance???
Oh and my big 30 Birthday is next week and I had planned on showing off the car to a few family members that hadn't seen it...
Thanks everyone...and big Thanks to Grayson and Jason for the help...I owe you guys!!!
Tough luck..had the same thing happen to me when I lived in the Philippines 2001-2003. A bolt went thru a 35" BFG on my lifted Toyota Hi Lux 4dr pu out in the middle of nowhere.
Luckily I'd invested in a spare tire/rim of the same size, there wasn't any place nearby to fix it for me, tho I did get that large hole nicely repaired once back in town.
I've got a pair of extra back tires with good tread. Couldn't sell one, - come to think of it, I might want to keep them for back up myself!

If you get in a pinch and just need some rubber that rolls let me know, I have the OEM take off Pilots from my car in the garage. They have a lot of tread but have no idea how old they are. I am sure they are not anything you want to take to the track, but they work. Like I said if you need them I got em

Thanks. Appreciate the help. I have some roll arounds on 17, but like yours they are old and won't grip to save my life. That bolt left a hole the size of a quarter in my tire...

At a 60 MPH race I start in 2nd, shift into 3rd hard at around 67 MPH and run into 4th near 116 and hit 5th and run till nearly 200. I dont know what gears you are running, but something does not add up there. If you don't find a good spare, buy a new set and keep the one good tire as a spare.

I am running full exhaust, K&N's, smooth tubes and 3.55's...now with 18 rims vs the stock 17 inch (i know that the gears performance will be slightly different with the new rims)...I suppose I should have started in 3rd around 3k?
