Track Car?

eBay Motors: Dodge : Viper (item 160239150044 end time May-16-08 15:11:04 PDT)

You guys think this would make a good track car?...it has some definite flaws, but for the price i think it might be a good racer...Opinions?

Not really. You would have to install a roll bar and need a hard top for it. Then look for some brake upgrades. Then have to deal with how much harder it is for a Gen I to drive on the track vs. a Gen II.

A better option would be to buy a GTS. Catwood's 2000 is already set up for the track and would be a better and safer track car:

I don't know about gen1 but you can pull fast lap times with bone stock gts. Now, viper isn't easiest car to drive for sure, I would look for a car with cheaper repair bills. Look for e36 m3 (1995-1999) or used c5 zo6 is good buy as well.

my first choice now days are e30 m3 but they are so hard to find.

There are much better platforms out there for a weekend racer to build/maintain.

Any C5 vette should do. Vipers are cool and all but are expensive to fix and have more expensive parts.
