hmmm.... It's a big deal to pull the gas tank. It would be nice to check the wire in line from the fuel pump connector to the PCM, however the tank needs to be pulled to get to that wire. I wonder if it's just a bad connection from that wire and not the actual float mechanism itself.

It's also possible that your guage is in need of a good inspection. The connection on that end may be bad. I would go there first, as it is much easier than yanking the tank.

FYI mine acted up for about a month, it went way back to below zero tank. Anyhow it corrected itself and never did it in the past two years. What exactly is yours doing that makes you think it is bad? Did you ensure it is the sender and not anything else? It is a pain to get the top off the tank unless you know how to do it. I used a hammer and large screwdriver and beat the grooved lid in different places to unscrew it, but the Viper MOPAR manual tells you to use a special tool that I surely did not have.

Ah yea, you have a GTS... probably MUCH easier getting to the tank to inspect the wires, compared to an RT/10.

I have got the sender out so I guess I now just need a new one.

I would at least test it first.... The problem may still lie elsewhere. This is an easy 2 minute test but you need a Volt / ohm / multimeter to test it. There are two wires connected to the sender right? A red and blue wire. I never tried this, but in theory... as you slowly move the float up and down, (with an "Ohm meter" connected to the two wires), it should result in different resistor values throughout the float movement. So, you should see a change in resistance as you move the float up or down.

Take a look at the tiny "finger" connectors on the actual unit. The pads were extremely dirty when I had mine out a few months ago. What I commonly do with electronic "pads / connectors" like the ones on the float, is take a pencil eraser and "gently" erase on the gold-ish areas. They will turn from that tarnished brown look, to a brilliant gold once again.

I have one in the Attic and I can mess around with it tomorrow to confirm this is a functional test, if you want test yours out.

It may seem silly, but it's easy enough to do, in case you go through all this trouble and it doesn't fix your problem.

[quote] This also works on slot car pick ups under the bottom of the car to get it max voltage and keep them running fast-lol. I forgot about that until you posted this.
