How much will the front sway bar help the launch?

These Kumho’s hook well. I remember with the PS1’s I would short shift 1st, spin through 2nd while attempting to keep the car strait…shift and spin until about 70mph in 3rd then it would hook. My 60ft times were in the 2.0-2.2 range. I just couldn’t get the tires to stick…even launching at 1500rpm! My times dropped from a 11.6 to a 11.1 just with the Kumho tires. Now I get my best launches at about 2500rpm. I get a little spin then it hooks until about 4krpm and it comes loose again. So I let it spin until I hit about 50mph and shift into 2nd. I shift hard so it brakes loose but then it hooks right up.

I’ve thought about it many times about starting off in 2nd. However, I don’t want to kill the factory clutch. It’s been in the car for 16,000mi!!!

I do think part of what is hurting me is the ACR suspension. It’s much too stiff in the rear for drag racing. I don’t want to change spring because I want it to be an ACR. I should play with the shock/rebound settings a little and If I get my 60ft times into the 1.60’s that would only help.

As always guys, thanks for the Advice!

ACR's do come in 750 lb springs, at least all 1999 ACR's did with the Koni 2812 Racing shocks. I guess if you want it be a "stock suspension" for the later ACR's, you'll have to keep the 1100 lb rear springs that came with the Dynamic shocks.

Try setting your front shocks to full soft on rebound and full stiff on compression. The rears should be the other way around. Regardless, any ACR set up is not ideal for drag racing, the car was designed with road racing in mind.

If you have a buddy running BFG drag radials, barrow it for a few passes and it should bring you in the high 10's. Or if it's already available, try the M/T drag radials.

Yea, I took my front sway bar off too a while back. We used to always yank them off Mustangs too. Them things can be heavy on some cars. I estemated on Mustangs about 30-35lbs and theViper, maybe 20-25lbs? It's been a while since I took it off.

I have a 01 ACR...the springs are a bit stiff

I'm sure I can do it with these Kumho V700's...I just need to work a little harder

I'll play with the shocks and see what that does. Thanks!!!

Good job man. Don't be in too much of a hurry for turbos, sometimes the basics provide more enjoyment with a great deal less headaches!

Congrats! 10's is just a 60' away. What was the 1/8 mile ET/MPH?

Did you try different launch RPM's just to see the difference?

Take Care
