Today was the first day I could take my car out and beat on it. So I did a pull from first to fourth gear in WOT to see how it ran. When I came out of first gear and went into second it started to pop a little bit and it kinda "coughed" a little bit. Also when it "coughed" the check engine light flickered while it was doing it. It ran fine after and before but this is the first time it did this. I have done the same pulls before and it never did it. I tried it again after and it didnt do it... Do any of you guys have a clue what this could be from?
I just replaced: Fuel filter, plugs, wires, put in k&n filters, smooth tubes, cleaned the pcv valve, reset the comp, new cerpitine belt, deleted the cats and mufflers. I think that is about it.
Also when I am above 2500 RPMs the dash lights flicker. I keep them turned very low.
Check the ground wire right by the driver's side cowl. It is small and can be detached easily, it is above the master cylinder's powerbooster. When you put on maybe #9 cylinder, maybe it became detached.
Also, go back over, and around, the electrical stuff you worked on before this happened. You replaced the plug wires you say... check them and check around them. Make sure you didn't bump anything lose on accident in the surrounding areas of your work area. Sounds like a flaky ground to me too though. If it's doing it at WOT, then it's possible the g-force is slinging something back, making a lose connection "not so good", like it is when sitting still.
Dash lights flickering may be your switch. In another thread, not too long ago, someone was talking about the light switch connector (up underneath the dash) melting. One of the responses, was giving the reason for this... when people keep the lights down to a lower setting, it causes more resistance due to the higher current passing through the switch and the switch gets really hot, melting the connector. I don't recommend keeping them turned down low...

Well thanks for all the responces... I took the car out again to day after checking everything out and it did it again. It also seems to be getting really bad gas milage... This is starting to piss me off.
Let us know what you find out. Also on your battery... check for corrosion on the terminals. I doubt it's that, but a little corrosion can cause all kinds of problems. I have had some experiences over the last year with a little corrosion on friends cars. Just clean the terminals off while you're down there.

This is probably because you deleted your cats and now your downstream o2 sensors are acting up. Did you install o2 sims when you did this?
It happened to my 1997 GTS once about 4 or 5 years ago. I changed nothing and it never happened again. It kinda acted like it pinged once or twice, bucked a little, the check engine light went on and the electronics faded but it came right back.
Who knows. I'd be worried if it became a recurring problem.
