Running some decent HP, maybe 700ish at the wheels and might go higher as my street beater. My rear seems to be acting up with 35K miles on it but certainly still drivable. I will jack up to be sure that is the cause, but I am 98%+ certain it is and I already tried adding more friction modifier but noise on turns tells me my center section is having better days-lol. That said, I see there is the Quaife and the Truetrac option. The Truetrac is $1,000 and the Quaife is $1600, but I was told by a vendor that neither one breaks, but Quaife gives you a lifetime warranty verses a 1 year Truetrac warranty. I want to keep my stock rear ratio too and a stocker has done me well, but I am going to keep adding addl power, but since this is my driver car I will keep it below 1000 HP as I do not want to do the motor all over. Anyhow please give thoughts on rear only if you have experience and I really want to hear from the Truerac guys as there are plenty of folks that will vouch for Quaife
Thanks to Mike 99 RT/10 too for offering to loan me a rear on the public forum. Although I did immediately PM him a big thank you, this is a gesture that gives me a little more faith in mankind and my thank you is public too It is another good Alley real world experience I have seen many times of an offer of assistance.

Hey Gary, I have the stock busted rear out of my 99 from the Dec. race. I wanted to do a Quaife too but the group buy never materialized. Let me know which you think is th ebest option and maybe we can get a better price going in together.
Thanks for the kind word buddy

Can't help on the TruTrac but the quaife is absolutely fantastic. I have video of a wheelspinning TT SRT10 with one wheel in grass/gravel as the car takes off and steers out into the road, and the car barely steps out of line at all. It had my son in it
On cambered roads where an LSD will tend to powerslide the car sideways along the camber, the quaife just keeps the car running straight. Spinning thru the first 3 gears - car just runs straight. Amazing, more power out of turns because it sends it to the wheel that needs it most, and safe. Worth every penny I think.
Quaife uses better metals in my opinion, but both diffs share the same basic design. The Quaife has 12 pinions (6 per side). I don't know what the truetrac has, but more is always better.
I believe a Quaife has been in the 7's or if I'm incorrect, at least low 8's on slicks, so strength isn't an issue. I really haven't had any dealings with the true trac, but I'm eyeing one heavily for my 9" . ($450 vs $800 for Quaife)
Update: I talked to Eaton about today 4-29-08 Truetrac and HERE IS THE REAL DEAL: Eaton does NOT make a Truetrac for a Viper-PERIOD. I told them that Unitrax sells their rear fr the Viper and they spoke highly of Unitrax, but that Unitrax must be modifying one of their rears to fit into the case and they do not warranty that personally. The guy I talked to was very nice, so anyhow to make a long story short, I do like and respect Unitrax a lot (have their safety loops and halfshafts) , but I think I am choosing to go to a Quaife personally for the lifetime warranty and the proven reputation here on the Alley despite being $500 more up front in costs. However additional install costs are incurred with the Quaife, so anyhow I will update as this progresses. Gary
