UPDATE: I just put my car back on the road after keeping it off for a month, and drove it and the TRUE-TRAC BROKE APART! LUNK CLUNK, like the carrier broke apart inside and the pass side was damn near hanging out.... I drove off the road to safety at least, and will call Unitrax tomorrow. Not happy, this is the second time I took this rear out and I only bought it in May and did not drive it that much. I told you guys I would be honest and keep the story going, so I will post what their response is, but I honestly would like to get the Quaife instead of this as frankly how many times do i need to pull the rear?!?! I had my Currie 9" Ford in my 467 CID fully ported/roller GTO with slicks and a 4-speed on it and that car is SMOKING FAST with the same rear for 10 years+ including track time! This rear broke on the street with a 10 lb Roe?!?!

Quaife is the way to go. I love mine, it's got to be one of the best mods I've added.

Here's an interesting thread, good for a few laughs on ls1tech. They seem to have a knack for being able to break anything.

Who's broken a Truetrac? - LS1TECH

If you two can't get anything resolved, pm me.

2MANYTOYS, I'm glad you're enjoying your rear end.

OK, so I got off the phone with Devon, got some info that might be cause for the breakage. If I mis-speak, Devon can chime in. They way the True-trac works, it has to sense resistance or torque for the other side to start turning. Hence when I was doing a burnout in the water box, the left side is turning, but the right side is not. Because it's not "grabbing" persay then only the left side tire gets heated up. So when I go to launch, they both will grab, but only one tire is sticking. This is probably why I broke my halfshaft. Not sure if there is another way to go, but I see a lot of halfshaft replacements in my future..........

I am getting a call tag from Unitrax sent out per Devin today for my rear and he also wants to inspect my Unitrax half shafts (I have their best ones and hoops). My passenger side rear yoke is hanging out of the rear.....

so your True Trac did not break, just your halfshaft?

correct, the halfshaft broke, but what got me thinking there was a problem with the rear and caused my breakage was the fact there was very little rubber covering the inside of the right rear wheel compared to the left. So while I was doing a burnout(speculating here because I didn't have anybody watching) the left tire got heated/right one didn't. So when I launched, left wheel grabbd hard, real hard and broke.

Could have been any number of things. I'll get it back and put it through the paces and see what happens.
