Did that girl take her top (opps i mean wing) off for you? I tried calling you back you punk!!! I am going out there soon to take the SLOW one out so I can show you how to drive..... lol how did it go Joel??
This was opening day of a totally redone surface and other than the first 60 feet, the track had noooooo traction or rubber and a 15 to 20 mph head wind. To give you an idea how slow the track was, the fastest motorcycle, an R1, ran a 11.60. Last year this guy was turning mid to low 10s. That being said, I ran a couple of 11.557 @ 131.11. (don't forget I'm running at 3200 feet). I'm also still running run craps that are two years old. I figured I would get some practice with them and switch to either Kumos or Nittos. My 60 foot time ranged from 1.898 to 1.999 over the five runs. Not bad considering the track and old tires. I didn't even bother with the aggressive tune change because of the lack of traction. The SRT10 wasn't any better. They have some big events over the next several weeks and hopefully they can get some rubber down...along with my new tires.
I have to admit that having the tires spinning like mad as I shifted into forth was surprising to say the least....and beating the R1s times was fucking fantastic. I'll post a video Sunday, I'm done!

Good job Joel. Better tires and practice will make a big difference.
No one could touch me with street tires, hell, I beat most of the drag cars. The 131 trap speed was good enough for me. Getting the drag radials and going with the aggressive tune will most likely net me at least a full second. I may just say fuck it and take it to Ennis for a real track experience. I was literally spinning the tires in forth to the point I had to let out of the gas and get back into it. The only car that beat me was a C5 with out 600 rwhp with a 100 shoot of nitro....and drag radials. He and I had a blast. His drag slicks and my extra HP real made for a close race. The funny thing was I was able to beat him in the 60 times with my run craps vs. his drag radials. I'll be ordering tires this week.
Should I go with BFG DR's, Kumos or Nittos? Guys, feel free to chime in.
Also, I wonder if I should have kept the wing on for the additional down force...would it have added any benefit for traction at higher speeds?

Sounds like you made the best of it! I don't know much about Nitto's, but I love my Kumho's on the street. I finally got my Viper back on the road yesterday (AFTER 6 FRIGGIGN MONTHS) and though I like the tires (because they hook), I was still kinda spinnin them messing with some foos on the street. Sorry if this sounds a bit elementary to you, but I seem to always go into details when I write.... you may already know all of this. The problem with Kumhos, is the sidewall. They are not like a true drag radial, because the sidewall is stiff. The tread is made of a softer compound, almost like like slicks, which makes them sticky on the streets, but when you take a high horsepower car out of "the hole" at a drag strip, the tire should actually "wrinkle" on the sides, giving them the name "wrinkle walls" to slicks. Of course this allows for HUGE traction gains and some drag cars even install "Bead Lock" bolts in the rim wo they don't spin the tire inside the wheel. I think BFG's actually have a wrinkle wall but I may be wrong. Giving that extra wrinkle ability in the sidewall at a sticky/prepped drag strip can make a HUGE difference! Allowing you to do this!!!!!!!!!!!!

The wing will slow you down. Leave it off when you drag race. BFG's seem to work well, have you tried slicks?
