No offence was taken
I guess I will learn as I go.
And yes there are some differences but I am sure by what I have seen on this site so far that it will be pointed out .
Keep in mind though we are always a day ahead of you. lol
I was giving you shit. In America, we use the acronym "fwhp", as "front wheel horse power". It may be different in Kiwi land, I dunno? It was meant as a joke.

Did you just move here from another country? Us real Mericans call it flywheel horsepower.
Aw.....warms my heart. Fond memories of Eckhart Tolle.
Just wondering out loud, but is this going to be anywhere near as big a train-wreck as the Kenny sage?
Fucking shitballs. Would everyone stop blaspheming my fucking name and specify that you are talking about Man Boobs Kenny AKA Space Alien with a Trumpet Kenny AKA Sun Ra Kat?
However, to further answer your question, if you are who most people here think you are, you better hope it doesn't turn out like that saga, because that resulted in the shop in question going belly up. Never underestimate the power of the internet.
I've received good information/knowledge from Jason and TM over the years. And appreciate it! That's as far as my relationship with either has gone.
So far, we just have to go by what TM had said... After reading thru eight pages, I still can't get past the whole "risk your family life + job + financial well being" without a signed contract or some type of legal paperwork. We live in an information age, and contracts etc... can be sent/signed/sealed without even leaving your home country. I mean, I drove over 1,500 miles total to look at the USED Viper I wanted, signed a couple contracts to hold/verify the deal, and the flew back the second time to close the deal with a bank + notary. All for a car. Given, a pretty expensive car. And I know from seeing TM's post over the years, he is not a stupid guy. The 'common sense' is there in abundance. This leads me to believe there is more to this story. I'm not saying people don't take risks, but this is beyond a risk. This was insanity.
I believe many people are stuck on this part of the eight page post. TM, maybe you can help everyone understand (in detail) why you told such a risk. Things not going so well in NZ? Was moving your family to the US a motivating factor? Why didn't you fly out by yourself first?. I can't imagine a flight costing more than $1,000, of which Heffner would surely split if he was serious. Was this not an option? No risk to your family, job, etc... Something just doesn't add up, but maybe you can help me/others understand. And saying it was 'just a mistake' or 'live an learn' or 'I trusted him' or '20/20' is not really convincing. I need to put myself in your shoes, and make your actions seem feasible. Not that my opinion matters, but I assume one reason you are posting is to clear your mind and have people understand your plight.
Oh well, glad to see you're doing to well.
A flight from down under costs a damn-sight more than $1k - I can assure you of that. However, much of what you said is pretty well on point. I've been working on a contract with folks from AUS for some time. They insisted on some form of written agreement before they would comp a trip down for a look-see. Our unwritten (but spoken) agreement was that if I didn't want to continue the relationship, I'd pay my way back. Fair is fair.

I flew round-trip from PA to Mexico for $220 bucks, so I was guesstimating. But after doing a search on sidestep.com, it looks to be about $1,200 round trip from NY to New Zealand or Australia. So I wasn't that far off. Some can be found for as low as $1,000, but it appears to only be certain dates + criteria.
