Whew, does this mean I won't to hear from you anymore Most of the peeple have seen the inside of a race track. Have you? Here, try using MapQuest: Maps, Directions, Gas Prices & Business Directory to find one nearest you....................................Oh wait, Kevin is going to be driving for you........................nevermind
A wise man would know his opponent well first.
A worthy opponent never sounds his own trumpet.
If I recall, people mocked Chad the same way...
turned out the bugger could drive and he reset the record.
on the other hand - this is a good time to reflect...
Somewhere between street driving skills such as being able to powerslide 1200rwhp+++ down the road AND hooking up a drag setup for a 180++ mph trap speed lies the consideration of what a record is worth.
When it comes to running in the 7's, ones mortality should be considered, those that won't are most likely to discover it first.
Is a record worth a trophy and a wheelchair?
Being a hero?
Saying goodbye to your kids and wife - without the goodbye?
Not many fuckers here have the slightest clue what it is like to unleash 1500rwhp++... yet everyone has an opinion on how people should just go out and let her rip.
A point gets reached where brains take over balls and makes the call on if and how a record attempt is made. That decision is made on a level no one else has any business even commenting on it unless they want to put their life on the line and have the bank balance to pay for any collateral damages.
Just a thought
we all do shit for our own reasons, and we don't have to account to you for that. Fortunately it is also true vice versa.

The rest of you make my head hurt, but yet for some strange reason I read this crap. I enjoy a lot of the e-personas here but lately it's a little too much and I think the collective has just a little too much time on their hands.
Good post Barry, I have no problem admitting I'd need serious track time both on the strip and road course along with general driving practices in the car. In order to feel 100% in racing a Viper to it's limits or even a "casual" trip down the 1/4 in a high HP car, if there is such a thing.
The rest of this thread makes my head hurt.

Chris you are a good kid but there is not a soul in heaven or on earth who assumed Barry's comments were even remotely directed within several zip codes of your current location. I think even Jesus chuckled when he read that.
Yes, it is the Alley, but this is not AG. This is supposed to be a Smack free zone. I know as of late most "MEMBERS" here and I use that lightly have used every inch of this place to bash each other and nut swing.
I would guess that is why Gary posted it here.
Yeah, he sure did start his own site. BFD some people got tired of how this place was and wanted somewhere else to "hang out". If you don't like it, don't go there. But, give the shit talking in every thread in every forum a rest.
I don't read meltdown, I read hey the shit has started to get old. I am over it, lets get past it. Maybe you just want it to read meltdown. Read it again.
For the record, I have re-read the post, and every time I have it still screams meltdown... Im not the only one who thinks so, either.
I still stand by exactly what I said describing the meltdown and of my respect for Gary, regardless. This is the Alley no matter what section someone wants to play in, and it seems panties (no pun) really get in a wad lately when someone calls it like it is...

I second that! I found out a couple weeks ago just how difficult it is to get one of these 1500 HP TT cars down the strip. I have owned dozens of what most normal humans would consider FAST cars for around the past 20 years. Yet I totally underestimated the step up from high 9 low 10 second cars - mainly automatics - to an 8 second 6 speed car with way more HP and way less traction! Let me tell you, its a HUGE step up! I was on the rev limiter all day when the tires would blow off the thing, at just about any speed and in any gear. Out of maybe ten runs I also missed 3rd once and 4th a few times (yes, fourth - it is indeed STRAIGHT back!) while most of my concentration was focused on hanging onto my nuts and keeping the car headed somewhat straight and off the walls. At the end of the day I basically ended up feeling like a retarded jackass that had never driven a "fast" car before since I couldn't get a single damn clean pass in with the boost at anything much above the base wastegates! These cars are definitely BEASTS!
That being said, I can't wait to hit the track again and give it another go!
