FYI guys, minor change to the schedule. I posted this on other forums:
I have communicated with 85% of the sponsors as well as about 50 others via email and phone over the last 24 hours and am making the decision today (3/17) to move the Drag Racing event to Saturday and the 60-130 to Sunday. All gate fees corresponding to each day and all tech card fees corresponding to each day will remain the same.
Saturday Drag Racing
Spectator - $20
Tech Car - $45 (in addition to the spectator fee)
Sunday 60-130
Spectator - $15
Tech Car - $40 (in addition to the spectator fee)
The reasons for this decision include but are not limited to:
1. Weather - looks great on Sat but looks iffy on Sun. The drag event is ALL DAY whereas the 60-130 is 5-6 hours long.
2. The Drag Event is the marque event of TX2K8, we need to protect the event that will generate most of the interest and most of the sponsor dollars.
3. We are having a hard time locating personell to work on Sunday (Easter) and we need less personell on the 60-130 day.
4. The 60-130 day will end around 4-5pm whereas the Drag Racing event will go to 7-8pm.
I know losterdamus posted about the night meet on Friday night the 21st, the website provided is the old Frank-N-Steins website for the HW6/Sugarland location (the info came from Houston Performance Driving) and just to avoid confusion here is the new website for Frank-N-Steins Grill where the meet will take place (sorry I don't have enough posts to have a link in my reply ):
We are en route right now, stopped just outside of Atlanta for the night. Smooth sailing so far, no tickets or other random incidents. Will be in town on Thursday...can't wait.
I know you have the show-n-shine & dyno day on Friday, what are the chances you will have the track open for some test-n-tune Friday as the drag day has been moved up to Saturday? I'm sure there would be several folks interested in getting in some practice before Saturday that would be willing to pay for the track time.
There will be no test-n-tune this year prior to the event. You will have lanes open on Sat morning for test-n-tune from 9-11 am. Of course, if you just want to test-n-tune all day, that is fine too as there will be a dedicated test-n-tune lane all day.
Peter
(Lonestar and John Hennessey (owner of the track) was gracious enough to offer his grounds to all of the attendees to leave trucks, trailers, etc...overnight.)
Peter - will there be a group of ya'll headed to the track Sat. morning? If so, I would like to tag along. I live across the street from you, so I can meet ya at the front of your neighborhood and try to keep up!
