I was thinking about going with some 3.55 gears but after searching I am getting conflicting results. Will going from stock 3.07 gears to 3.55 gears improve 1/4 mile ET if all else stays the same?
My experience with other types of cars tells me they should too, but I did read something about having to shift into 5th causing the ET to stay very similar.

You would have to be trapping at 140 to 150 before this becomes an issue.........you ain't there yet and neither am I
yes they will.Just got back from Pinks, but blu my rear end Friday night.Got any suggestions where to go now? Got Unitrac two step, but keep breacking shafts on drivers side
We put them on a 400 rwhp gen1 and raced it against a 400 rwhp gen 1 and it slowed it down on the track and more on the street. We also put them on a 96 rt 10 with rear exit exhaust and took off the cats and mufflers (straight pipe) 415 rw car. That car picked up quite a bit with the 3.45 and the unrestricted exhaust on the track and on the street. When he was getting ready to sell that car he put the stock exhaust back on and the car slowed back down quite a bit with the gears still in it.....
It seemed without the backpressure, the gears worked very well at that rwhp. But it does slow it down, on factory type tires that is, with a restricted exhaust......In my experiences......

that'd be because the extra torque of the gears is lost to earlier shifts... throw in an unrestricted exhaust and the top end would improve enough to more than compensate.

Install a Quaife, and those Mark Williams giant dumbells that they call axles, and never (almost) have to worry again.
