Stock clutch HP question...

How much RWHP can my stock (30K mile) clutch safely handle? It works fine as is, but I'm going to add some power (maybe 600 RWHP max). Should I bank on replacing it, or will it be OK? I don't plan to put any kind of sticky tire on the car either. I'd rather my tires go up in smoke than the clutch or halfshafts.

If you operate it properly you should have no problem.

tator will tell ya to stick with the OEM clutch up to 750rwhp

DLM will tell you to stick with the OEM even higher and Rick proves this at his power level of about 920rwhp

Cool, I think I was more worried about the age of my clutch being a limiting factor. But it sounds like I won't be approaching its limits.

All depends on how the clutch was treated during it's service life.

I'm assuming thats on non sticky tires? I had planned on a "baby" 150rwhp shot on my gts, but if it can hold 750rwhp on street tires, guess I'll spray a little more.

I ran a stock clutch with 750RWHP or so, and drag radials. It held up to 20,000 or so street miles with frequent applications of horsepower and maybe a couple dozen or so 1/4 mile passes with no issue. It was still going strong after around 3-4 years.
