Replacing the OEM Alpine Stereo

I have a 1998 RT and was looking into replacing the stock Alpine CD player. Has anyone replaced the stereo on their own. It should be pretty simple but most after market stereos use RCA jacks for connecting the stereo to the amplifier but the ones in the Vipers use an 8 pin DIN connector.

The stereo has 3 outputs:
- antenna connection
- a wire harness connection with the following: ACC, ANT, AVC, ILL, PARK, BAT, & GND
- 8 pin DIN (all of the speaker wires run through this cable: FR, FS GND, FL, RMT, RR, RS GND, RL, & GND)

I cannot find an adapter from RCA to DIN, has anyone found an adapter?

Can anyone ID the abbreviations for the wire harness? The only ones that are common on after market stereos are ILL, BAT, & GND. ANT on after markets is for a power antenna (not on a viper), AVC is the auto speed control (not found on after markets), Park is not found on after markets, I assume ACC is the same as the ignition wire, not sure what PARK is for, the after markets have one wire that goes to the amp called remote. The colors do not match either and I am comparing the old stock Alpine with an 2008 Alpine unit.

Is the easiest route to swap the Amp also?

I am looking into this also. Can I just replace the speakers for now. They look like 6.5" front door and 6.5" rear hatch area. 99 GTS ACR. I know the BOSE system in my Vette was a pain to change the speakers because of the ohm diference?? Same here?

They have aftermarket harnesses for any car. No, there is no RCA to DIN connectors. Just take it to a stereo shop. It is an easy install and will take less than 15 minutes.
