97 GTS Steering and Differential Frame Recall

I am bidding on a 97 GTS on e-Bay that has not had the 2002 recall done for the steering and differential frame (recall #998). Dodge says they will still cover it, but I recall some discussion about satisfaction/dissatisfaction level about the way it was done by some dealers. Can anyone give me a heads up on this or have pictures of recall work done properly or improperly?

You can go to dodge.com and there is a section where you can put in the VIN and it will tell you. Or you can call your local dealer and give them your VIN and they can tell you.

It seems a lot of dealers did the recall wrong. Tator claims he has redone a bunch done wrong by other dealers.

Or you can call tator and give him your vin. Or just poke your head under the car and if it looks like a bar was welding in making the oil filter look tricky to get off it is done.

If they weld the brace on the wrong way you are screwed , make sure the dealer has done many of these................

Very few dealers were capable of doing this recall, don't have a qualified welder. Good news is very few cars needed it. Some track cars had cracks, I've never heard of a street car needing it.
