Gen3 Intake manifold

I have noticed some gen2 engines with gen3 intake manifold. What is the benefit to this modification? Is it a direct replacement?

Has more internal volume with less drag. Good for turbo motors when resonance isn't as big of a deal (Gen II long runners probably help spool a tiny amount).

That I am not 100% sure of. I believe it is, but I would check with someone else before I pull the trigger.

Javo had one on big red and I believe it was a bolt on job. Obviously you need to modify the throttle body linkage but that should be cake.

I would Imagen that along with the benefit of a manifold with less restriction there is also a benefit to having fuel rails like the gen3. Does the gen3 rails use straight through injector or angled injectors like the gen2?

You need to Check with PBJ its a few mods and you have to open the manifold holes a bit, linkage and elec plugs that are diffrent. if your not going to force feed the motor it wont be worth the extra funds for the switch.

The plan is to go with a twin turbo setup thats why i was asking about the manifold. How much do you gain by using the gen 3 manifold?

the runners on that mitech intake are extremely short... how high are the revving those engines? the plenum displacement is looking a tad small as well. the gen iii intake manifold with its cross over runners gets you runner length that matches the viper's typical RPM range a lot better. its too bad the viper has so much hood clearance limitation, you would probably see a lot better intake manifold designs if there wasnt such a space constraint... oh well, the cubes and conservative tuning make up for it just fine i suppose.

It's for turbo engines, and for that purpose is pretty damn good. I do know one thing: Mike has forgotten more about engines/turbos in the last 5 minutes than anyone on this board likely knows about the same. There are very few people who I really don't question what they tell me. Mike comes the closest to this of anyone I know.

The volume on that manifold isn't that small... What does the Hogan do better for a turbo car?

BTW: Nice ninja edit
