they must be breeding then, because this kind of crap started with the DLM nutswingers (NOT Doug) when Heffner started to make inroads to "their domain"

Then it sprung legs and movedto the Heffner camp (NOT Jason) when UGR started giving them a hard time at the track

Now it looks like it's moved to the next camp and giving CPE shit... the common denominator in all of it is there are tattle tales in the other camps that feed it and start the fires. Little gossip whores

it is all bullshit and none of the tuners are typically involved. Neither Doug, Jason nor Kevin would stoop to this.

It is always the "good ol boys" in the nutswingers club that have an axe to grind and have such a narrow view of life they think that if someone is not in their camp they must be the enemy. Seems like a sure way to go thru life in constant war... losers

Guess that means CPE is coming of age then if it attracts the same shit the others have gone thru before

Ok guys,
I am not sure of the issues between CPE or myself and the world here, but this has turned in to a mess. The car made incredible power and drives great on the street...period. The car had a decel smoking issue as described by Paolo and the owner was informed of this at the time. There was some play in the one turbo shaft and Paolo replaced both to satisfy mine, his and the owners concerns. They were installed and the tuning continued....the smoking was still there and it did it light at idle, none at wot, and more at high vaccum (decel on pulls). Paolo and I both decided it was not effecting performance and decided to verify everything related to the issue was ok and tried to determine the cause. We had done a leak down and compression before any pulls were made to have a known condition of the motor before starting.(standard practice for CPE) When the wastgate springs were changed we decided to check the leak down again to verify there were no changes in the motor and everything was within the same percentages....every cylinder was within 1-2 percent (the first were on a hot motor and the second on a cold motor)(that may be the difference between the two tests). The plugs looked great, no detonation, great burn pattern, and good coloration. The car has no excessive blow-by from the catch can or any issues from the dipstick either. (any engine with ring issues with boost will push severe amounts of vapor into the cans or push the dipstick out of the tube (this car has none of these problems). I know from my own experience that I had a similar issue with a set off heads I ported and the seals ended up being the problem....I put a different style valve seal on and the problem went away....I had used the other seal on all my heads before with no issues....I am not sure what changed, but something did for sure.
As far as the tune on the car, the tune was set up on a load table for timing and fuel. The car can run off of 5, 15, or twenty five pounds....it doesn't matter. I have a pump gas version and a race gas version...the timing curves are the only varying factor. On all of the pulls my a/f was between11.7 and 11.9, on the "trouble pull" as everyone is calling it the a/f was 12.1-12.3....was I expecting it to go to 22 psi....no, but was the tune close to where it needed to be....yes.
Next, the dyno numbers, temps, smoothing...etc. There were no smoke and mirrors going on. I always use sae with a smoothing of 5 when I make pulls...period. I give the customer (Paolo in this case) a standard and a sae version of printout for his use. The corrected numbers were never posted and they were higher by the way, nobody was trying to say it made more than it did...I believe both were posted in the other thread if I am not mistaken. Oh, my shop has heat....that is why the sheet say 70 degrees not 20 as it was asked in the other thread.
Anyway, enough off my ranting....I know that I am being acussed of being a CPE camp member and that is not the case. Paolo is a customer that has turned into a friend. I think he has a nice turbo package for the price that has great potential. I am sure that none of the other Tuners have made their first kit to perfection and sometimes it take a few trys to work all of the bugs out. I know that I have learned alot over the years and you learn more every day from trying different things. I think that may be the case here as far as the intake piping goes.
I also want to say the car was not returned to the customer with problems and nobody has said here you go to Tom....there you go. Speaking for myself, I have offered to help in any way possible to solve any of the concerns and I believe Paolo is doing the same. I want the car delivered in perfect shape and make the numbers listed for a long time to come....

Well, shit. As much as I was looking forward to some incredible drama on the Alley today, it doesn't look like there's going to be much, if any.

It started out great. Another "shit's broke" thread with the finger pointing just getting started. I was ready for at LEAST 10 pages of excuses and hilarity. The problem is, I've never known Joe Donovan to be anything but honest and professional. Regardless of what anyone thinks about the CPE kit, or Paolo himself, I'd be hard pressed NOT to believe this particular explanation simply because of the source. If Joe said he personally checked the compression and he personally inspected the plugs, and he personally inspected the play on the turbos, etc., then I believe him.

It's clear that there is some sort of gremlin in the build, but it sounds like PBJ has a handle on it and will likely get it figured out.

I hope it's nothing serious, for the customer's sake.
