What size twin turbos?

Hi guys!
I got involved in this forum after purchasing a drive train from a 98 viper for a swap into a custom.
I'm looking into a twin turbo setup and have a few questions. The engine I purchased is stock and that is how it will remain right now. I plan on upgrading the injectors and purchasing a VEC3 to help control it. I want to add a twin turbo setup that will be capable of provide more power once I upgrade the engine internals. I'm looking for a final hp number of 900 but I don't think the engine can handle that stock, correct? So I was thinking of installing a set of turbos capable of providing that much power but setting the boost low enough to provide about 600 hp. Once I get the cash and time I plan on upgrading the required components needed to increase the boost and get the hp to about 900. Using the original turbos. I understand that the turbos sized for 900hp might be less efficient when used for a 600hp setup but in the long run I'll save money by not doing things twice!

Am I able to do this? If so, what size turbos to you suggest that will be capable of providing 900hp but will still run fine for an initial setup of 600hp?

First off, the engine is fine making 900 RWHP. For that HP number, I would suggest a 66mm turbo with a .96 A/R hotside. I wouldn't go any smaller than a 61mm.

I have (2) Turbonetics HP 64's I will sell. One of them hasa fresh cartridge and the other one needs one. They will easily make 1000rwhp. I'll let both of them go for $1,500 plus shipping.

what size injectors do you suggest? and can the stock ones provide enough fuel for 900 hp? Will an inter cooler be required?

CPE Turbos is this forums Do it Yourself Twin Turbo expert. His complete kits start at $9,999. Use the search and look at any of the TT threads. He'll sell or give advice.

65 lb injectors controlled by VEC3, tuned by Joe Donovan (PBJ).

Wow! Very impressive!

Now how about reliability? at 900hp, the the reliability of the stock motor diminished?

I maxed out the 96lb injectors once I got the tune right. The tune was still off on this run:

As for turbo sizing, the best advice anyone can give you is to LET YOUR BUILDER DECIDE FOR YOU! Consult the builder for the pluses and minuses of each set-up...

You asked, "If so, what size turbos to you suggest that will be capable of providing 900hp but will still run fine for an initial setup of 600hp?".

The turbos on my car can do what you asked for. Are you going to run the 900hp setting all the time? If so, then you'd want a built motor. Otherwise, it should be fine as long as you shift conservatively (i.e. 5500 rpms). Then again, you should also be prepared to build the motor when time comes, if you choose to run the 900hp setting on fully stock internals.
