Ted, if your asking what I paid for my build I would be inclined to have you call Kevin for a quote. I am not going to post that here. It was enough to have the wife in need of a new piece of jewelry but not so much that I couldn't afford both. BTW, my car will stay filter free and if I am the exception to the rule that UGR has seen, just like NO MAN stated, I have a a great shop willing to stand behind that decision/recommendation. The only time my car MAY see an air filter will be when I travel an hour or more away from the house.

I have to agree with the others on this one. Willing to lose 50RWHP with a less radical tune for durability but not another 50 more for durability? Your going to put a filter on it whenever you drive an hour from the house? Why not just leave it on all of the time. 900+HP is amazing and UGR's craftsmanship is just as much so. Enjoy that beast of a machine and put some well earned miles on it! Hate that there was 6 pages of bickering to put up with to read about the great/useful information on those two beautiful machines.
Cars that will be driven
by everyone an average
of 12-20k miles a year = need for air filters
in all climates, roads, etc
for an average engine life
of 100-150k miles
Cars that see 1-3k miles
a year on nice days by
people who have invested
a bit into their cars, change
oil often, and may see a = not a bad idea for air filters but
total of 30-50k before a rebuild is more likely something else will ruin the engine or will get rebuilt
before the difference is noticed.

I wasn't asking for an invoice amount. I was asking how much you had into the car so that people can have a better idea of what 900rwhp is worth, not just the Paxton and instal.
Like as if what it would cost to go from stock to 900rwhp. Paxton + fuel + exhuast + rollbar + axles + exhuast + vec3/AEM + wheels, etc. etc.
No "secrets" just an approximate total value of what it cost for you to get there.

You'll need WELL over $20g's for what your asking for.

Actually, I'm quite happy at this point. I love pictures with license plate numbers clearly identified. It makes it much easier to identify cars in parking lots.
900rwhp is a nice build! What I don't get is how you needed to have head work done if BlownGTS's car was capable of making 900+rwhp without head work. And the promise from the original 'offer' of UGR was 900rwhp w/o head work.
I guess we'll never know b/c all of the blower cars that went in to have that 'deal' done had head work done!
As for you being a dick, you've proven it to the world. And memorialized it for your child. Why would I disagree with you?
Speaking of, I hope you don't drive around with a car seat in the car b/c I'd hate for two people to die in a fiery crash. One is fine, though. Solid red is the ugliest car combination there is. It is truly the 'my penis is too small, so look at me!' car color.
Have fun, and don't hurt others around you!

Above = Jealousy rearing its hideous face. That was completely childish Dell.
Congrats on the new HP Josh, looks pretty damn sexy.
But I have to agree with the aforementioned inquiry. The original 'ad' was a 900rwhp Paxton on a stock longblock, on pump gas with filters in place.
Why is it these cars with 1.7 rockers, ported heads, etc are barely cracking that number w/o filters?
Has anyone laid down 900 rwhp with one as advertised, on pump gas?
If they were CA cars sipping our pitiful 91 octane that I could understand, but you guys get the semi-good gogo juice. I guess i figured with the head work and such they would break a grand to the wheels.
Or is it just that the Novi2k is maxed out at that point and there isn't anywhere else to go? Not that 900rwhp is a bad place to be.

So far nobody has opted for the totally stock version. The cars with the heads etc. are making 900rwhp with a less aggressive tune than would be required for a totally stock engine. They are capable of more if the owners wanted to push the envelope. One of the reasons Underground has never detonated a Viper engine is that we structure our builds so that a safe tune is possible without running at the absolute limits.
I'm including this information in all threads it has been mentioned. We give all of our customers the option of running their Paxton blowers with a fine mesh metal screen instead of the filter. We understand that their intitial goal was performance and all performance comes at some cost to longevity. Our experience with the mesh filters is that we have never seen any detrimental effects in any of our builds. As such, we feel it is a reasonable decision the customer who wants the extra horsepower can make to go with the mesh. We do warranty both the blower and the motor against damage from this configuration and have no reluctance in doing so based on our historical data. Obviously if you live on a gravel road, you would want to opt for the standard filter. We have no such customers to date even in North Carolina. We also warranty our King Kong TT and engine builds for two years and 24,000 miles and that's pretty rare for performance builds at those levels.

I think there are a couple of things that affect the numbers.
BLOWNGTS' car had stock heads and stock compression. I don't doubt for a minute that the car made 900 rwhp with the advertised Paxton kit (with fuel system, etc) on stock heads. Under the appropriate conditions (cool, dense air, good tune, 100 octane fuel, etc), there is nothing suspect about those numbers at all.
However, when you port a set of heads, you almost necessarily reduce the compression of the motor. Generally, porting a set of heads on a blower application also means that you see less boost. A 17 lb pulley on a car with stock heads should make 17 lbs. That same pulley on a car with ported heads may only make 15 lbs. What you might make up for in power from the heads, you might lose in boost pressure. However, you're now making the same 900 rwhp with less manifold pressure, which is probably a good thing.
Josh's car probably sees less boost than BLOWNGTS' car and is also on pump gas with water/meth, yet makes the same power. I am relatively certain that Josh could have made 900 rwhp with his stock heads, but he'd likely be running more boost with higher compression.
Add to that the fact that the NOVI 2000 only flows a max of about 1400 cfm, and at some point, you're just going to run out of flow.
Personally, I'd rather make 900 rwhp on less boost with ported heads than make the same 900 rwhp with more boost and stock heads. The ported head setup just seems safer.

WOW! Who can talk s*** when you get a commitment like this from a vendor?!
If I ever decide on a power added, I will not hesitate to call!
KEVIN i am having a problem with a math question hopefully you can shed some light for me. Joe made 1600rwhp and runs low 10 tens or high 9's, Brian made 900 and runs 9.20 how is that possible. By the way Josh's car looks awesome and well thought out at a performance level where he will keep his car. Most viper owners are professionals or small business owners not drag racers. Most sell their TT cars with hugh hp within 3 to 6 months because they don't have time, are not comfortable with the power or just scared shitless of it for a fraction of the price paid. Josh be safe and enjoy your project.
