Went to the cruise in last night. A weekly car show. A guy came up to my Viper FE and was looking all over at it. He crawled under the front and came up all confused. He said, you have a V10 in that car. I laughed a little and said all Vipers have V10's. He shot back with, his buddy has a Viper and it only has a V8 in it and I have the souped up version of the Viper. The special hardtop version with a V10. I tried telling him again, that all Vipers ever made and sold to the public were V10's. He won't have any of it. Was trying to bet me a thousand dollars I was wrong and he was right. Had me convinced(not really) but I thought maybe I was being setup. Maybe he did have a buddy with a Viper with a V8 and I was being suckered into the $1000 bet. Finally another friend came over and got me to look at his car and I told the guy to go read this web-site. He said he didn't have to, he knew. I don't know why I go to these places sometimes. You meet all kinds.
The only Viper (non-production) that I know that ever had a V-8 was the Viper that was 9/10th scale version that was bulit by the Pacifica design studio. I believe that Dodge still has that car.

I think so too... that was a cool prototype for sure.
Oh yes and ALL production Vipers from 92-08 have V 10's period. The only way a Viper would have a V8 is if the owner pulled the 10 for it like Sir Hiss.
Actually that was the whole pre production debate between Carol Shelby and Bob Lutze... Carol wanted a V8 and Bob wanted a V10... guess who won.
As a side note... VM-01 used a V8 and VM-02 used an iron block V10.

I read that Vipers have V10's because Lee Iaccoca promised the gov't that if they lent him a bunch of money he would not build any V8 cars for a while... thus a V10....lol

I went to a party one time and the security guard at the neighborhood gate was a young guy and he said, "that's an awesome car, is it a manual or automatic?" So I said "6 speed" and he says, "oh my buddy has an automatic one". Being nice I said, "i'm pretty sure they dont make automatics stock". He seemed to disagree so I just said "well that's cool".

Phil (Plumcrazy) was wrong here, you have to act like the guys at the car shows and say "well, my friend has an automatic, but it has more horspower than your friend's car"... Ahhh the idiots, everyone has a 9 second car, but my little Roe SC Viper has yet to be beat on the street.
