very impressive not like that supra video of the mile he was all over the place and you could have had a chocolate fondue going in the passenger seat. good run and congrats on the speed and think about the fondue next time at maxon it would be like a victory treat after the chute pops.

And if that Supra could hook up better he may reclaim his title back. Congrats to SVS.
Great Run............I would love to see vipers in the Unlimited Street Class to be actual Street Vipers that are not race cars........they drive on the road to the event and then run......then drive home...........once you cage, chute, ect..... smells like a race car...
I know the car is registered and has a tag, working head and tail lights ect.....but how many street cars run around with a chute and are allowed on the street with the exhaust sound that loud?
I know most cannot run at Maxton and Texas without all the safety equipment .................but I would like to see how fast they could run and then drive home in the same car.......I think their are some that could do 200+ that are 100% street car.

Nice accomplishment but Id like to see a real street Viper run those times...The Supra is a full street car and ran 228mph....231 aint gonna last long...

The person driving the street car aint gonna last long if they buy the farm @ 230 MPH
Are the guys who are complaining about race cars even thinking about what they are saying wanting to see a street car without a full cage drive at these speeds?
When a Supra goes out and goes faster than this the Viper will just go out and go still faster!

Agreed....as you know, we haven't even scratched the surface of fast Vipers in the mile.

So are you saying that if Jr. drives home in the TTRS he would get a higher approval rating? LOL!
Most blower cars ARE that loud.
A parachute is one of those safety things.............

Walt, this is funny to me!
Without the proper safety equipment you are relegated to do a standing mile on the street that is illegal.
No sanctioning body would open themselves up to the liability of your Unlimited Street Class 'Fantasy'.
Let's congratulate SVS for the great run and leave it at that.
Paolo, their main complaint is that they are saying that they have the fastest production car in the world in the standing mile. "Production" is often referred too stock looking on the exterior as we all know. Their TTRS is not in any way in stock form.
This has been a complaint for awhile with SVS's claim. I have nothing against what SVS does and congradulate them, think they are all great guys that run that company, they just need to watch what they claim.

No issue here with his accomplishment....Jr. continues to impress with both his cars and his driving ability he has been doing this a very long time and I for one continue to be impressed with his runs.....and I consider Jr. a friend....he offered to help me on another TT build I did.
I agree big troubles if something goes wrong at high speed with no safety equipment.
It just seems more like a race car than a street car.

There is a big difference in just merely putting a roll cage, parachute, spoiler on the rear and maybe wheelie bars on the rear and having that as a "Street Car", reminds me of Chad's old GTS having all the safety equiptment needed to run his times.
But when you change the instrument cluster in the interior, change the structure of the body in a way that takes it away from "stock form", I believe it is no longer a Street car and resembles more of a "Race Car". The SVS TTRS is NOT a Street Car!!!
Chad's GTS looks and equiptment........... or SVS TTRS looks and equiptment
Street Car Race Car
The video doesnt call it a street car, it calls it a production car. Its not a street car, but there is no denying that it is a Dodge Viper, with a proper VIN, and definatly came off a production line many years ago. SVS chose to take the race venue rather than the street venue many years ago... that car is too long gone to put back into a street car (my idea of a real street car doesnt even have more than a 6pt cage)... but the fact remains that there is nothing stopping anyone from putting that same power plant, the same drivetrain parts, and the same tires, etc into any street Viper they want to fullfilll any of their out of control fantasies of driving a car exeeding 1500hp down route 66 at 240mph
The TTRS as a street car... you gotta be kidding me. A car with a powerplant like that belongs in racing venues not the tollways... so its no surprise that they have it armed to the teeth with proper safty equipment. To use a car like that on the street would be attempted manslaughter.
The funny thing is, if they put a stock front bumper on it, took those wings off the back, and gave it a single color paint job, i bet you guys would stop complaining.

Saleen99, this is your opinion.
I would much rather have a MoTeC digital dash configured to monitor everything I needed to see real-time than trying to do the mile races and Bonneville attempting to read the stock gauges in twelve different places at once.
You have to understand that people all have different desires, opinions and goals.
You like a stock-mobile while I prefer a race-mobile.
The SVS car is the stock IRS chassis/frame like it came from the factory with a roll cage added.
It is NOT a tube chassis race car with some Viper body glued on top of it.
If you guys want to go to Maxton to even try to set a record, you will need to do what SVS has done to pass the tech inspection.
The Texas Mile is the only sanctioned event that would even consider to let a 230 MPH in the mile car without a full rollcage and level of safety the TTRS has to compete.
I think that any of you guys in your "street cars" would be nuts to try to go 230+ and stop at the Texas mile without a parachute in the shutdown area available.

The slippery slope of modding any car often seems unavoidable.......... Just go turbos and avoid all the headaches! LOL!
I know of a Heffner SRT that went over 205 mph, on less than 16 psi at The Texas Mile, then drove to San Antonio for a few days and then finally back to Dallas. All driven by the owner.
Paolo I understand completely. The cage and the parachute I feel would still consider it a street production car. But when the body starts to change to resemble a "race car" either for aerodynamics or whatever it would be used for, it goes away from a stock vehicle. I classify a production car alittle different.
We feel a production car should resemble what is looked like from the factory body and exterior wise. It can have anything built in with the suspension, cage, parachute....... and I feel it would still be a production car... you just can't change the body and still call it a production we feel.
Body changes or chassis changes = none production car
Paracute suspension built motor = production car

Thanks
The victory treat was surviving the run, setting records and celebrating with the team. It may appear like it was a walk in the park but when you're not in the seat or in the know of the teams struggles during the whole racing effort then your perception can easily be skewed by just watching the video. The reality of it ALL, is FAR from fondue
Our Viper weighs 4000lbs with driver. Not sure what the Supra weighed but his problem was traction. We lost alot of traction in this run and like I said above it's not something you can realize because you can't see or feel it in the video.
