The Supra is a "street car"? What kind of gas did it run? Can I get that at my local 7-11?
THE H.N.I.C. personally views street cars as cars that run pump gas.
-Race cars run race gas.
GREAT point. FIRST, SVS a BIG congrats. 231 to 216 is like saying my car runs a 10.0 to a 12.0 in the quarter, but only a little off, almost the same. A street car to me is pump gas, all lights, can pass inspection and emissions, can do a road trip without a box of tools, is legal to drive (NO SLICKS) and has creature comforts we all want and need in a car like a radio, exhaust, wipers, seats (yes, plural), et cetera. My ultimate challenge for a car would be braking, handling, quarter mile, top speed all with a 1000 mile drive from start to finish to see if the car could finish without tools and how it did on all tests. No finish becuase of a break down equals no place in the competition. This is where we would see the race cars drop off that were made for just racing and where we would see a LOT of Vipers come into light as overall they just rock. I want to say as I post this that I am not discounting SVS or anyone else here AT ALL, I am just saying for another twist on an event and I think the car magazines would love it too/ Hell, I just want to see the NOPI girls (spelling?)

Now that the prices of virtually everything are going up and up and now that thousands of people are losing their jobs everyday as the US goverment still hands out 10,000+ checks to those people just getting off the boat, I think I will take a boat ride and get in line, I sure could use the money to pay for the gas in my Viper and GTO!

I argee with most of what you stated, but I'm not going to get into that never ending discussion. The KllyMartin 205mph pass and my 207mph were on pump gas. I think my car could go over the 210mph mark on pump gas and street tires. I'm only running 11psi on low boost with a very safe tune. If I bump it up to 13psi and get some good weather(not 95+deg)I think it would go 213-215mph.
anyone know what the pump gas(93 octane or lower) record is for the standing mile ??
I got 207mph!

It took alot of horsepower to carry our 4000# sled through the mile @ 231.6mph. It always seems like there's alot left on the table. Where we're at now if we increased a couple psi we would be lucky to get 1-2 mph. We need traction at the same power level and that will bring up our mph at the finish.
207 is awesome for pump 93 and with the right conditions it sounds like there's a 210 in your future
Ted, the GTS has a CD of more like .35 and a greater frontal area compared to the Supra.
Since I can't measure CD, I was quoting other authoritieds (like what's listed in Wilkpedia) and the SRT (convertible) was a .35 while the GTS rated .31. The Supra # was also their quote.
I realize a Supra has a nearly indestructable bottom end, but if I thought they were great - I would have bought one, not a Viper.

Ted, the CD for the GTS body has always been .35 in every magazine article I have ever read.
I would love to see a Supra in the wind tunnel and find out what the actual cd is at what ride heights. I wonder if they took the wheels off the GTS and placed it on the ground to get the cd numbers that they've reported
