their main complaint is that they are saying that they have the fastest production car in the world in the standing mile. "Production" is often referred too stock looking on the exterior as we all know. Their TTRS is not in any way in stock form.
This has been a complaint for awhile with SVS's claim. I have nothing against what SVS does and congradulate them, think they are all great guys that run that company, they just need to watch what they claim.
What are you talking about?
their main complaint????? I'm not complaining. I'm STATING we have the FASTEST STANDING MILE PRODUCTION CAR IN THE WORLD.
If you add ANYTHING to the stock body from stock production, even a carbon fiber chin spoiler like on the 228 Supra, or a carbon fiber hood like on Chads Viper, you're no longer considered for the production car class in landspeed racing. We don't run in the production car class we run A/BMS. As I stated before we're claiming production car just like everyone else has, that claimed records under the veil of production car (a car off a production line with at least 500 produced and NOT a purpose built tube frame chassis race car).
It's not YOUR RULES of stating STOCK LOOKING on the exterior OR what YOU FEEL is acceptable as production. It IS only your OPINION.
Anyone looking to go 230+ in the mile with a completely stock bodied production Viper off the showroom floor better do some aero testing in the wind tunnel first
supra 3505# with 53% on the front tires. Supra - 255 x 50 x 17" tires (skinny), smaller brakes than a Viper.
Ohhh, you mean they compare since they were both about $90,000 back in the last year they made the Supra? Supra not available for sale in 4 or 5 states because of bad emissions ('02). And the cars were discontinued because of emissions by 2003. Here in Canada they were discontinued in 1998 because of their bad emissions.
Don't see how you can try to compare anything Supra to Anything Viper.
I don't compare my Stealth R/T TT to a Supra ... or a Viper. My AWD, AWS Stealth is the fastest car here during winter - and the Viper gets parked until summer.
I know of a Heffner SRT that went over 205 mph, on less than 16 psi at The Texas Mile, then drove to San Antonio for a few days and then finally back to Dallas. All driven by the owner.
K,
It was good meeting you also at the Texas Mile.
As I was going over the class breakdowns and speeds from the Texas Mile website I noticed that you won your class! That's very impressive and a huge accomplishment for you. You deserve recognition for it and the fact it was a Viper that took the win!
^^^Thanks. I didn't realize I won my class...and it was the largest car class at that. Where's my tshirt?
When anyone gets into the 200mph club the hosting event should at least give you a t-shirt
I believe you're officially a 200mph club member. This is recognized as such in landspeed racing when you set the record in a particular class above 200mph and exceed the current record.
In 2006 when we set the record at 216.65 in A/BFMS at Texas I was handed a FKawi 200 club shirt by Billy S. ( the guy with the skeleton bones motorcycle leather suit ) He's a cool guy. I don't believe he's affiliated with the Texas Mile organizers.
I believe the Texas organizers charge you for a shirt when you enter the 200mph club.
You should send them an email and maybe they'll supply you with a shirt
I don't care what anyone says about "production car"......"street car" or whatever......that was impressive to say the least! Thanks for the Vid.....it was great to see what a Viper is capable of in the right hands.....
Great Run............I would love to see vipers in the Unlimited Street Class to be actual Street Vipers that are not race cars........they drive on the road to the event and then run......then drive home...........once you cage, chute, ect..... smells like a race car...
I know the car is registered and has a tag, working head and tail lights ect.....but how many street cars run around with a chute and are allowed on the street with the exhaust sound that loud?
I know most cannot run at Maxton and Texas without all the safety equipment .................but I would like to see how fast they could run and then drive home in the same car.......I think their are some that could do 200+ that are 100% street car.
Walt
there were a few street vipers at the mile with full interiors,AC,radio, and at the goodies that ran over 200mph (Kllymartin 205.4mph,bigred 212mph,C.W.A 207mph)
Kllymartin drove from Goliad to Dallas after the 205mph pass
