Fuel fittings?

I have a 1998 Gen II viper and I'm modifying fuel lines. On the back side of the engine there are three metric threaded plugs that go into the fuel passage, I think they are used during the manifold manufacturing process. All three plugs, one on the drivers side and two on the passenger side, go into the fuel passage. My plan is to plug the original hole in the manifold were the fuel currently enters the fuel rails and use one 10AN fitting on the drivers side and the passenger side. The plugs that are on the rear side of the manifold are an odd size. I have been trying to find metric to AN adapters to fit these holes. Does anyone know where I can find them and what size they are? I also need the size of the original threaded hole where the fuel line currently connects to the manifold, cause I need to block it off.

I'd also like to drill a hole on the front side of the rails to allow the fuel to flow through the heads. This will prevent the fuel from heating and vapor lock occurring. Does anyone know where I can drill holes and hit the fuel passage at the front of the engine on both the drive and passenger side?

Thanks!!

Just use the drill and tap on the rear existing holes that you are going to use on the front if the sizes work out. Otherwise just redrill the rear bigger and tap.
Why do that with the stock injectors....maybe you are having them modified.
Fuel rails and larger injectors may be your best direction.

I don't really see the need for rails. If I wanted larger injectors can I not use the stock location and get larger injectors? I'm sure the rails in the manifold can deliver more then enough fuel for what I plan on doing with it. I may go to larger injectors in the future but not much bigger...I think.

Any idea where I can drill holes in the front of the engine to connect to the fuel passage?

Maybe, I not up to date on aftermarket or larger side feed injectors. They aren't real common.

RX7's have side feed but I have no clue if they will fit or not. The largest side feed I have seen for them are 1300cc's and they are not cheap, like 300 per.

You may want to talk to some one at RC engineering. They may be able to bore your stock injectors. They do recommend only boring new ones for fear of them sticking.

I'm not really concerned about the injectors. I more looking for the fitting sizes in the rear of the manifold and where I should be drilling in the front of the manifold.

Plug the stock feed in the manifold,(metric o ring plug), remove 1 of the pass side rail galley plugs, it will accept a std -8an o ring fitting, use that as the fuel feed,it will feed both sides of the manifold via the large stock crossover... then on the manifold,on top and in the front, just to the inside, i drill and tap for 1/4npt,and use -6 lines from both sides feeding into both sides of an aeromotive reg..(note. this is used with either 1 or 2 walbro 255hp pumps, with a -8 feed and -6 or the stock feed line used a the return.)

would it be possible for you to take some pictures? Do you know what the thread size is in the stock location? Also, to are saying a standard 8AN fitting will fit into the gallery plug location? I thought that those were metric threads I think they are 15mm x 1.5mm I know the thread pitch is 1.5mm not sure of the diameter, it isn't a standard one. How far forward did you drill those holes? I was hoping to drill the holes in front of the last injector, but I have seen one picture on the SVS site that shows them be hide the front injector. I'm wondering if the passage stops right at the injector and doesn't go past it. Please let me know any information you might have!

Im pretty sure the galley plugs are not metric...yes, a -8 an with a o ring fits perfectly in the stock plug location..(have done many cars with this setup).. as far as drilling the holes, one will be at the end of the galley on one side, and before the last inj on the other,as it ends right at the inj.. works fine that way.. there is a pic in my gallery on vpr clb.. link..ViperClub Photo Gallery - johnjbe Gallery

Perfect! Thats the kind of information I was looking for....Thanks

Any Idea what size the plugs are in the rear of the manifold?

Question- If that guy is making over 1100 HP using the stock manifold and fuel rails, while are people installing after market fuel rails? Also, Where do you purchase those coils from mounted on top of the valve covers?

The problem with using the stock fuel rails, is the avail. of large side feed injectors, not the stock rails flow cap..the pic was of the na. setup, before the larger inj and rails were installed..the coils are corvette ls1 units, and are being used with a aftermarket efi system, they will not work with the stock ecu..
