I had the rear muffler removed last week, it sounds better but still too quiet. So I ordered some high flow Dynomax cats, which I don't expect to make a huge difference in sound, but hopefully pick up a couple HP. Then I did some reading on here and noticed a couple guys use the Moroso Spiral Flow mufflers and love them. I just happen to have a set laying in the garage collecting dust, so they are going on right after the cats in place of the stock resonators. They are 3", whereas the rest of my system is 2.5", but I can't see that it would matter.
Its gotta sound evil after this, right?
I also read somewhere that the later model (2000-up maybe?) headers are worth some power over the stock manifolds on my 1997 GTS. Is that true? I would think I could pick a set of those up pretty cheap from someone who has upgraded to aftermarket headers.
I should have the exhaust done tomorrow or Thursday, unless it sounds like ass I'll post a video.

1997 GTS, red of course. Bought it so I wouldn't have to drive my Camaro in the rain.
It still won't be loud enough for you. On my '97 I have the later model tubular exhaust manifolds, Roe high flow cats, stock resonators and rear muffler delete, It's better than stock, but doesn't sound anywhere near as good as my '96 RT/10 did with Edelbrock headers, no cats and a Borla cat-back. That was pure driving bliss. I think I'm going to replace the whole setup on my GTS with B&B headers, metal substrate cats and Random Tech cat-back. I've heard a vid of that setup and it sounds pretty good.
I've only got a Corsa and high flow cats (the small ceramic substrate ones) on my GTS and it sounds great. Only problem is slight exhaust leaks at the stock manifold flanges as it's a tight fit.
Unless Moroso improved the quality of those things recently, they will take a shit on you and fall apart.
Those things are junk for any real HP. Now if you rarely drive the car, and are a poser like some are, they will last for a while.
Like I said, they will take a dump unless they have been improved recently.
Must be the old ones, because these are all steel. They can't really blow out or fall apart. LSx guys are pushing pretty serious power through them. I don't need them to make "any real HP", since my car basically stock.
Well, its on. Its not much louder than it was before. And my sills are still getting hot, which sucks. It sounds good though, and has to be lighter. But for a minimal investment, its pretty cool. I bet it sounds mean at WOT, but its raining here now so we'll find out later.

Great, thanks for the update. Which way is the wind blowing?

The cat convertors are what heats up the sills, not the resonators btw..
Being that I own a few muffler shops and pertty much tried eveything(even glasspacks). Go with no cats and dynomax in the rear.Gives it a nice mellowtone sound. It will only get hot on the sills if you have something there, i have a straight pipe with only the flex on the turn were the cats use to be, NO HEAT.
