Houston - Lonestar 60-130 Event - Calling Out All Vipers...
As many of you know, Lonestar Motorsports Park is hosting a 60-130 event this Saturday 9/29 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. I challenge all of you to come run and beat my lil' ol' poopra!
We have a small caravan meeting up at I-10 and Eldridge Parkway at 10:30 am. We will drive in a "spirited" manner on the way to the track and have fun for a few hours. As of right now, we have 2 996 GT2's and 3 Supras meeting up to caravan.
This is the perfect chance for you all to showcase your cars capability in a safe, legal and car friendly environment. For those of you that do not want to worry about breaking, this is your event!
60-130 times:
Ferrari Enzo - 7.0 seconds
Stacey Barnett Underground Racing TT Viper - 4.6 seconds (was the quickest recorded 60-130 time that i've ever heard of)
Where do you fall into that range???
Peter

Eric - dang, that sucks! I think however that the spirit of the event is to have fun, regardless of how much power your car makes! I would love to see you there...
To my knowledge I was the first in the country to do an official 60-130 event at Lonestar back in March during TX2K7. We had around 35 cars participate in that event. Here is how it works. You line up in the staging lanes. A GPS based "driftbox" is put in your car that is pre-set to record your 60-130 time. It is suctioned to your windshield like a radar detector and plugs into the lighter power outlet. You roll through the burnout box at the track and floor it. You basically accelerate until you hit 130 mph or so and you're done. You then go back to the staging lanes and your 60-130 time is recorded.
Stacey Barnett, who has an Underground built TT beauty literally granny shifted his Viper at low boost through a couple gears making it look effortless and ran a 4.6 He had a great time as the track environment is safe, legal and does not put much stress on your driveline (like drag racing does).
Kevin - hope to see more Underground cars representing at TX2K8 in March 2008!!!!

got one - well, maybe it's not too late for your compadres, so let them know they have an open invite! Tell them a lil' ol' 183 ci poopra wants to run the big bad snake! Shoot, I'd even challenge and call out NORM (TX WHOS MY DADDY) but we ALLLLLLLLL know he's too scared to run me...

Thanks for the info Peter!
In case my plans change for the weekend, what safety gear is needed? Just a helmet? What is the cost to run? Would ya'll wait for me on the "spirited" ride to Sealy, or would I need to leave 30 minutes early??? hahahaha! (ya gotta remember I've got a slow car).....
eric - LOL, come on now!!!! Of course we will ALL caravan together... The only thing you'll need is a helmet, nothing else... Cost to run is $50 and if you buy a driftbox from John he will give you the $50 entry as credit towards a unit. That is what I did and just picked up my own driftbox as it can do SOOOOOOOO many things it's worth the nominal investment.
Where is this going to happen? This sounds like a Blast. Is it an open event?
I live in Fl. so I need to know how far and how long it'll take to get there.

Do you guys do more of a "flying" start....ie floor it from say 20-30mph and section out the 60-130 time, or do you get rolling around 60 mph and then hit it?
The reason I ask is that inertia plays a big part in the later situation and the times would be significantly slower than the former.
Garrett, this is true, we had a blast doing the 60-130 event at TX2K7 this year. We will definately do it again next year!
ROLL - it all started when magazines like Motor Trend and Car & Driver started publishing the 60-130 of various cars such as the Enzo, Saleen S7, Carrera GT, etc... They extrapolate the time by taking data from a standing start through 150+ mph. So to answer your question, yea, you would roll into it around 20 mph and be flying by the time you hit 60. The key is to make sure you do not SPIN through 60 at which point your speedometer might be reading something different than you are actually going. The GPS based device that is used measures actual speed and NOT indicated speed.
I just got word that another BIG hitter from Houston will be coming to the event. Think 1,200 rwhp+
eric - Get your priorities straight man! Fun with cars or work? I hope your plans are "changeable"! I am not sure how much he is selling them for, but around $500-600

Wish I could - work pays for the Viper! No work = no Viper.....
Ya'll have fun if I can't make it - I wouldn't want to embarrass my Viper brothers on here anyway with my nearly stock Viper time......
eric, sounds good bud! Meet up with us in the event your schedule should change and you end up being able to make it. With low humidity, and highs in the mid 80's, this Saturday is going to be BEAUTIFUL and perfect for car stuff...
FYI, at the TX2K7 event, we had a few stock Vipers doing this and they LOVED it!
