Well, the fall is almost hear and I know thats when alot of folks decide to start doing some racing. Every year around the fall is when atleast one or two drag records are broke in the viper world. Well its getting that time again so I decided to bring this up to see if there is anybody who would like to make some predictions(ala nostrachadus) or if anybody has a certain car in mind to watch out for in the next coming months. The smack has been too quite in the gen 2 section so maybe this will revive it a lil bit
With more and more Vipers tipping into 7 sec times it bcomes a matter of drivers and wanting to subject the cars to that kind of abuse. I'm sure some more records will be made in 07/08 time frame.

I agree, It seems the higher the bar is raised the less competative the others get. I know its really up to a costumer to decide if they want to build a 1/4 king or if they just want a killer street car. Remember when RSI held the six speed record @ 9.4?? Everybody and their brother was trying to beat that number. Now that its in the 7's the challengers are very few and far between.
In the Stock tire class the current record is 10.4. We had a lot of entries in this class last year. A special thanks to DLM for building me a car and helping me nail down the 10.4 time. I have lost 30lbs since last year so that should be good for another tenth

Great to see some folks still have the racing bug.

It just isn't as much fun for the competition anymore. Another problem is finding a driver to run these cars. Sure, there are a few guys on here, but I know I sure as hell wouldn't run a 7 second car down the 1/4. Also, I also would hate to have such a fast car, and constantly watch someone else drive it.
Personally, if I was building one of these cars, I think I would go for the street tire record. Watch out Rick, give me a few years and I will be coming for your record.

It will be to see you back out behind the wheel Richie after what
you have been going through!!!!
I am going to go out on a limb and predict a 9 second time slip out of a Roe blower car with a stock shortblock, no nitrous. Stock bottom end, stock ported heads, stock cam, stock suspension. Pump gas and water/methanol injection only.
What is the current record for, Roe blower car with a stock shortblock, no nitrous. Stock bottom end, stock ported heads, stock cam, stock suspension. Pump gas and water/methanol injection only? I am working on this 9 sec slip you are predicting.

To the best of my knowledge, it is 10.16. That's Tony Armour's time.
I believe there is only one Roe blower car in the 9's without NOS, period. Again, that's Tony Armour. But he didn't get that 9 second time slip until after he built the motor and added a few other little tricks. And while he probably could have made that 9 second, non-nitrous pass on pump gas and water/meth, I believe he was running race fuel (as a safety precaution because of the number of back to back passes he made). But the fact still remains, I don't believe there is a bolt-on, pump gas Roe car in the 9's.
I have always been of the opinion that a properly tuned, true "bolt on" Roe car could make a 9 second pass. It just hasn't been done yet. But that's the goal.
It looks like your car and my car are set up pretty much the same (although I still have the stock heads on my car), My car went 10.43 @ 137 on drag radials. Once I get my new Greg Good heads installed, and perhaps some ET Streets, I'm going looking for that 9 second pass.
My 10.16 was stock stock heads/stock block with 68k on the springs etc.
What are stock ported heads anyway ?? Is that like ported heads ??
Someone needs to do it with stock heads, stock block...then I will be impressed

This week I am going to try straight meth and advanced timing. I will keep you posted about this 9 sec pass. With some good air it might happen. I am running MT ET streets. My heads are stock but ported. I see your point 1Tony1.
i just ran last week 10.95 at 136.77 with a cream puff btr 200 shot nos stock headers and exhaust cut off cats and 1.7 r.r i had a 2.02 60" so i have more in it but they kicked me out of the track.
it was a hot and humid night 95 deg 80%humid it was like soup out there!
it would only run 12.41 @ 117.11 on motor with 431rwhp so it was a bad night.
i am gonna go to bradenton in dec hopefully ill have all the safety stuff to not get kicked out!
