i jsut got back from the dealership for a check up on my new viper. and they said the clutch is about to go on it, im kinda tight on money due to jsut purchasing a viper etc.. so i came across this "LUK" clutches i gave them a call they say they are oem... but i never heard of "luk".. 170 shipped for a clutch is an awesome price especially now that im kinda tight on money. so any comments on this would be apreciated!!

I tried one of these and I do NOT THINK they are the same as stock. I would NOT buy one again, it smelled like clutch with beatings (about 700 HP when i was doing it) and was not as good as my stock one. My two cents, I WOULD PASS and buy ot from a dealership to ensure it was a true stock clutch and not some knockoff IF my car was souped up at all.
That's the first i've heard of anyone having issues w/ this clutch. Luk is OEM so most go w/ this with no issue. the 6-puck flavor on ebay isn't quite the same as this one but the non-6-puck is suppose to be the same.
If there were gonna be someone to have a problem with it, it would be a bad 68 GTO owner...

They are a true oem clutch supplier, and 700hp is NOT STOCK!
i only have a couple bolt ons for now. is the viper stock clutch known for taking a good beating on basicly stock hp? i would like to do my share of burnouts and launches on drag radials at the track, i dont want to replace it after a couple trakc days. i had a 6 puck unorthodox racing on my old car, and it was super good and it never smelled, but the stock clutch smelled super bad and wouldnt function right after a burnout (on my old car).
also a member send me a pm saying he has an HP clutch are those any good?
A stock clutch is fine for a stock Viper and is a GREAT clutch! I am not saying a stock clutch is bad, and for 700 HP a stock clutch is still good to use for regular beatings! For clarification, I am saying that despite this clutch saying "LUK" it possibly is not the same LUK clutch found at a dealership, and I say that from experience as I bought one and installed it in place of my previous stock clutch and had some issues. In other words, is a computer marked Dell the same as another Dell or do they perhaps make a custom model? It might be a LUK with the same spline count and diameter, but made with different material that cannot take the abuse, yet still be a genuine LUK brand. Just my two cents, but now with added HP I am running a SPEC 3+ clutch (VERY aggressive!) and the company has been great to deal with for support to boot!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD point. Both times I pulled the Tran and the clutch, here came the fluid from the slave cylinder pouring out. One time AFTER we buttoned everything up and a new one had to be put in after the extraction/and install. I'll NEVER understand why the plastic is so cheap in those things. I think it's because they're "supposed to be protected" in that enclosure. Great point. I'd get one of those too.
I have that exact same set on mine. I'm at 680rwhp and have made 10 sec runs at the strip with no problems. It's only got about 3,000 miles on it but so far it's held up pretty well.
thanks for the feedback guys i called luk and they wouldnt have any till next month. i ended up calling spec and i ordered a stage 1 spec clutch kit from them. didnt find much feedback on spec so any feedback is apreciated!!

Um, try reading a few posts up to read about Spec from the one you just posted.
I got mine at Autozone because I could return it if I didnt need it (I ended up not needing it so I returned it)
Its the same damned kit...I talked to Chuck Tator extensively on this...and he is the one who passed along this information. The kit Dodge/Mopar sells is the same damned thing, but 2-4 times the price depending on how much vaseline the dealer has in stock at the time.
yes i did read and it said stage 3... which isnt the same as stage 1 .
After extensive thinking, I highly recommend a Honda Civic for you instead. Oh yes, the search buttom works on here last time I checked, but at the MoRgUe I anticipate it will work slightly quicker for you.
