David Boggs called me out a couple of months ago to street race him in his street car. Now, Kevin Howeth has called me out to street race him in his personal car, and David will not street race, but is willing to race me at the dragstrip. I had concerns about being at a disadvantage against a car with a more aggressive tire on it. After expressing those concerns, I was met with harsh criticism about the rules governing our race. After putting a little thought into the situation, I have decided to put my concerns aside and man up to a real race. Why not?
I feel quite confident in my skill as a driver and my ability to extract the maximum performance out of the car. I will show up on my radials, and Kevin will show up on his. Big Red will be on kill and we will see where the cards fall. I will take some time to get my car properly tuned for this race. I have yet to put race gas in it or drive it on my BFG DR's. I plan to take the time necessary to get comfortable with the new configuration, and bring my best effort to race day.
So that we understand what Kevin has requested, the race will be "from 30mph to the end of 4th gear". It will be on radial tires.
Now it's my turn. I am willing to come out and race Kevin's personal car with Kevin driving. I am willing to tape the entire race and post it here for the world to see. I will put it all on the line. In return, David Boggs will show up in Bradenton, in his car, with a six speed, with him driving. He will race me in front of the viper community. Also, Kevin Howeth will show up in Bradenton, in his car, with a six speed, with him driving. He will race me in front of the viper community.
I will make sure that someone (probably not me) will organize the December event. If I back down from either of these commitments (for some reason excluding a personal tragedy), I will be happy to ask the mods to delete my VA account and never post here again.
There's your race.
Nice Post......everyone talks shit on these forums. The facts are that these cars are fast, not everyone wants to race on the street. Its good to see compromise for safety for those who desire it.
I guess you havn't read Gary's Preacher Bashing....
10.40 is great...
Tom Welch
Kieth ?
I think Tony Armour
myself
Have all ran 10.43 on pilots
as for taking things to serious it is not me...I could really care less...This is just a outlet for fun, but it is alot more fun to win
JD ran 10.55 on pilots 2 years ago. and that was w/ a SC set-up. I don't know if i can do it again, though. i might 19" or 20" tires. that seems to be the ticket these days...

Nah. JD just sits on the sideline and watches or takes pictures. But JD is also the one who is usually forgotten.
I don't quite have the 'clout' to rename myself "The JD". We'll save that for later.
Right now i'm "The JD who breaks sh*t, who busts Kevin's b@lls, and who hasn't run a 9 sec timeslip let alone an 8 or a 7".
Fastest viper in the 10's? definitely.
This year that will all change.
At least JD hopes so.
JD
Ha, keep trying to tell everyone that. Your day will come when you lay down some fast times...You have one fast hot rod, you just need some more practice getting used to it.
If Gary and Kevin want to run the roll ons in a more central location I have some suggestions.
Ya know....I looked at the map last night and thought to myself.....who lives near Columbia SC. (your close)
Looks like just south of there (26) would be the halfway point. Surely there are plenty of open roads in that area ?? Need a witness to this event sign me up. Sure wouldn't hurt to have an attorney on "site" too

Long, flat, straight, and (relatively) safe.
And, I would have attorneys on standby for any necessary bond hearings along with making sure the tow trucks are flatbeds equipped with loading boards.
So I could be of resource in that way too.

I didn't think you could be a potential witness AND represent them as counsel, could you? O yeah, this is the same state that had the smart beauty pageant contestant on the other night.

You see, silk stocking real estate lawyers in metropolitan high rises don't know how to broker clients.
