97 GTS low idle?

I just picked up a 97GTS with 7000 miles on it a couple of weeks ago and I'm working out a few bugs. It came from CT and now it's in AZ. It runs real strong but seems to idle real low. It's idling around 450rpm. Seems way to low. When it's cold it stumbles a little and acts like it wants to die but revs right up when you give it gas. After it warms up the stumble is not as bad but still there. I think if I raised the idle up to 700rpm it would be fine. How do you do this? Do I need to reset the PCM some how? I changed out the battery, is there something else I have to do to reset the PCM or should this have done it. Sorry for all the questions I've asked but you guys are the ones who know and have been good to me.
Thanks
Dave P.

You are reading the rpm's wrong, that is tick is 750, therefore, you are about 700, which is normal. The PCM sets idle you cannot change it. The stumble is not normal, but, cannot be diagnosed with your info.

It reads below the first middle line. May not be 450 but not 700. When I get a chance I'll take a picture. I'm going to replace all the plugs and wires. Maybe ones bad. If that doesn't do it, when I take it in for the re-calls I'll have them check it all out. I'm told the Viper tech at Bill Luke Dodge in Phoenix is the best in the western states. Hope so.
Thanks
Dave

You did the new batt. which helps, I also have a 97 GTS and put in a new IAC a couple of months ago. It cured my low idle. Cleaning it helped , but the new part fixed the issue.

I had a similar problem on my 96, reset the PCM by disconnecting the PCM for 20 minutes, but I would try cleaning IAC first, plug and wires next.

Yeah, what everyone said...take off the IAC on the passanger size, get some cleaner and a toothbrush and go to town on it; it gets a lot of junk built up in it.

I picked up a set of MSD wires. Now I have to decide on which plug. I'll change out the plugs and wires and clean the IAC and let you know how it goes.
Thanks guys, your the best

Short version...The idle air control (IAC) allows air to bypass the throttle plate to regulate engine idle speed.
