CNBC newsflash........ Tremek stock about to soar on insider news of another lost soul trying to successfully make more than 5 passes in a 6 speed Viper.

See, here's a little-known fact about racing. In order to win, you must finish in one piece.

For all intensive purposes, a trans is a trans is a trans.....

I know for the T56 that the input and output shafts are different for different cars (both spline count and length), but not sure how it works on the auto's. SP's build th400's have the proper adaprter plate for the bellhousing to mate to the 2jz engine, and the internalls are all upgraded.....Talk to Mike Carlin on here (now has a roe sc acr), or just contact sp, larry or chris will give you all the skinny.

Hi guys,

I don't own a Viper, but I am putting a Gen 3 V10 into my 51 Studebaker along with twin T51R Garrett turbo's. I have the original six-speed manual but want to go with an auto as we will be drag racing the car every now and then. Viper stuff is rare in Australia, along with mechanical knowledge. Can someone please advise what auto's bolt up to the V10 - Chrysler 727 perhaps? I just need to know so I can organise an adapter for a turbo 400.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

If you are going to have an adaptor plate made, get one for a Lenco tranny or such. Do it right the first time, and just get the most stout bastard you can find.

Also, go with some larger hair dryers.

Hey Tim,

Lenco's are such a bitch to drive on the street -I'll stick with a purpose built T400 at this stage. Is the bolt up the same as say, a 340 or 440 block? The T51R's support 1500hp each - more than enough power to get you locked away for a very long time over here if caught stretching its legs... Here's a couple of pics. It's not as cool as a Viper, but it still has attitude!

Cheers,

Paul.

The bolt pattern is not like a 340/440 aka your regular old 727 transmission.
I did a powerglide for mine because I didn't want to cut the frame but you shouldn't have that problem.
Most shops use, and I used a set-up from SVS. I believe it is built by Coan but has to be purchased through SVS.
