Fuel Level Sensor Freaking Out!

I just changed out the entire stock pump assembly. Cannister, regulator, pump, sensor with arm. Installation went well. Pump working great. Turn the key on the fuel level reads true to the tank level. While driving the gauge fluctuates from 3/4 to 1/4 tank. Sitting still the gauge reads normal. I have pulled the cannister 3 times to verify the arm is in the correct position. Voltage going to the sensor is good and the ground is good also. Has anyone else had this issue arrise with a pump change? It's starting to bug me that I cant figure this simple issue out.

Check the sending unit sensor...make sure you didn't jack up the metal contacts, and that the clip is properly secured locking down the sending unit 'lever'

Mine does this. The stock sending unit is screwy and may need replacing, its a pretty common problem (independent of the work you did).

The replacement cannister I installed came with a new sensor and arm for the fuel level. When installed it wouldnt read anything. So I changed it out with the original one. It would read the level but would fluctuate. Today I again removed the pump assembly to investigate the issue. I found nothing that would cause this eratic movement. I made minor adjustments and reinstalled the cannister. Other viper sites have had this issue arrise in thier forums. You would think the amount of money we pay for these cars the $20 fuel sensor be of better quality.

No I wouldn't. Half the parts are off a caravan. It is what it is - I just thank god they built it in the first place.
