How HOT is hot???

Well we finally got a break from the rain this week in Dallas. Brought the GTS to work and on the way home I noticed the temp guage climbing a little more than normal, especially when I was in traffic. At one time it came up all the way to notch between 190 and 240. I guess that is around 225. Once I picked up speed, it dropped to normal range around 190-200. Is that normal for these cars? I know these run hot. When do I need to start panicking? How hot it too hot?

BTW, i just recently has all the fuilds changed at the local viper shop, so I know all that is fresh..

Anything I can do to cool it down a little? radiator upgrade? thermostat?

thanks for any advise you can give.

my 97 gts runs like that too. If it is hot outside then the car runs near the top mark. When driving it comes down some to 190-200. I had all my fluids changed too and didnt matter. You can try water wetter to reduce the temp some or go the aftermarket radiator route too. Thermostat change could help, or I know that when I removed my cats and put headers on my car ran a solid 15 degrees cooler all the time as far as the gauge goes. Side sills are cool to the touch and because the engine gases escape much faster they never heat up as bad as stock did.
