get a about a 20' by 20' tarp ... lay it out between two trees , drive the front wheels of the car onto the middle of the tarp. Pop the hood. pull the corners of the tarp up and attatch them to the trees .... put hose into tarp and allow to fill for about 2 hours. Let soak for 48 hours. then dry.

I thought I was the only one that used that method. You just have to be sure to get a heavy duty tarp or it will leak. Just get one at Home Depot.

Sorry for sounding like an idiot....but this makes no sense to me. Put a hose on the tarp for 2 hours, and allow to fill? How is it going to fill-up when the front tires are on it and the water is going to just drain out?
Its ok , this method has been used for a long time, its just not very popular because of the time it takes .... but doing it right takes time.
you pull the corners of the tarp up, and the wheels are on middle ( which would now be the bottom ) .... this creates a pail or satchel you will fill with the hose. alowwing the water and solvents to soak the grease onthe engine.
ok, I can see what your talking about now...almost like a tarp 'spa' for the front end / motor. How much water do you put in? what is the 'water line' you shoot for?
I've used simple green, high pressure hose and wiped it down with a towel while still wet.
Never had a problem.
Once dry, follow up with 'CD2 Engine Detailer' ..
Looks brand new, and show ready.
( Also use the Simple Green on the inside of the wheel wells w a high pressure hose and wipe down ). Making sure to NOT let the rims get touched with it at all. Spray it inside the wells.
Don't realize it, but once you do it, looks much, much cleaner.
Be sure and spray the entire motor down for a long period of time with water , pay plenty attention to wires and stuff they hook to , those need lots of water..........

Certainly some great advise! Would it not be beneficial to remove the plugs so as to thoroughly rinse the motor? Still think the tarp method is the way to go.

Sarcasm's a beautiful thing.
Yes, cover what should be covered prior to spraying.
Never had an issue.
