New Viper Classified: Gen 2 hood - silver
A new Classified Ad has been posted to the Vipers For Sale section:
Description: This is the original hood off of my Silver 99 RT with 18k miles. It has no cracks but a few minor scratches. I run a turbo set-up now so i'm switching over to a lighter race hood with more vents on it.
Please email me (jdell@yahoo.com) if you'd like pictures sent. Condition is good, but conducive to a garage-kept, 18k mile viper.
will entertain all serious offers (aka: I don't want to sit on this for 3 months).

Do most turbo cars require more vents in the hood than the stocker hood has?

no, it is purely a personal preference. the added ventilation could never hurt though.

Not required, but its nice to have. Power makes heat--especially 1585 RWHP!

Thanks, I was looking at some of the turbo cars for sale and hadn't noticed any custom hoods. My buddy has a turboed RX-7 and has lots of heat issues.

Paolo recommends, and I agree that if you run the car hard or on a hot day (stock or not), you should open the hood when you stop. People like seeing the engine and it helps keep the engine and hood happier.

That must not have been in my warranty booklet!
I just want a different hood. This is purely cosmetic. And why not make it functional at the same time?

John & Bobby Archer Have made a fantastic Carbon Fiber Hood with GTS-R vents that attaches to the stock hood hinges.

This hood vents better than any other hood - aftermarket or modified stock

Do you know if this this a one-off piece, or something that us average folks can get?

The Autoform CF hood is 3 times heavier than the SVSi hood. I purchased it for the sole reason of loosing weight and could not be happier with the hood. The only bad part is I doubled the weight of it by painting it. I beleive it is the same hood that Chad had on his yellow car.

DD's hood is pretty sweet. I don't recall if it has the stock hinges on it or not but that one is on the short list!

I cannot upload anything to my webspace tonight and the pictures are too big to attach here.
I opted for the lightest hood I could find therefore there are no provisions for hinges. I wouldn't have it any other way.
