Re: boost gauges

Looks are subjective. I use Autometer when I use aftermarket gauges. Some people will say they do not work properly, mostly ricers. Most of the problems come from not installing them right.

The new Cobalt gauges are sweet at night.

And to give you an idea of how they look at night. I know, wrong gauge.

Does anyone make a pod to mount on the a-pillar. Doesn't Snake Bitten have some sort of contraption.

Re: boost gauges

I have the autometer installed on the steering column of my viper along with the Billet LED shiftlight from Mike Brunton. The boost guage blends in well with the stock guages and the shift light does a great job.

Re: boost gauges

Here's mine. It's similar to Smokin's except I went with the silver ring version of the Autometer Ultra Light gauge to try and closely match the factory gauges. The face of the gauge is silver, not white, but still blends in well. It includes different color "lenses" for the internal light. I used a red one (that looks somewhat orange) to match as closely to the factory dash lights as possible.

The nice part about this location is that it doesn't block the view of any of the factory gauges and it doesn't hinder movement of the steering column.

There are two things I don't like about the A-pillar pod setup. One, (and you can see this from the picture) the pod is made for a more rectangular pillar so there is an unsightly gap at the top. Two, the gauges stick out so far due to the geometry of the pillar that there isn't much clearance between the gauges and the steering wheel.

Re: boost gauges

Are there differences in the quality of the A pillar setups as far as brand goes?

The only one I've seen for mounting gauges on the A-pillar is the one shown above. It's obviously made for a different car.

Re: boost gauges

A hairdryer or heatgun and a few mins. will take care of that gap. Easy enough to fix.

I am shocked that G. did not do that already.

As far as different gauge pods, that is the only one that works at this time. I can give you some other options though.

This gauge pod is the answer to mounting auxiliary gauges without cutting up the stock dash. It is made of fiberglass and it has a textured black finish. It will accommodate 3- 2 5/8 ,60mm or smaller gauges. It easily mounts horizontally or vertically, even over head. It pivots for easy reading of gauges while on the fly. If mounted vertically, it can be swiveled so that your passenger can keep an eye on the gauges so that you can pay full attention to your driving.

• 3 gauge= Approx. Size - 9" x 4" 2 gauge=Approx. Size - 6" x 4"

• Made to fit up to 60mm or 2 5/8" gauges.

(specify type of gauges and diameter you are going to use and we will pre-drill the pod for your gauges)

• Comes with necessary mounting hardware.

Now available in carbon fiber (dual pod only)

3 gauge fiberglass pod $69.00

2 gauge fiberglass pod $59.00

2 gauge Carbon Fiber pod $85.00
