what dose it take to kill a C6Z06?????

Hi guys....A buddy of mine recently bought a brand new 2007 c6z06..While i REALLY wish he would have gotten a viper instead it's still a pretty bad ass ride..

Well as you would guess it's going down pretty soon.

Im in a 99 rt10 with 1.7 roller rockers/no cats and air intake as well as aem tune.

On my last dyno tune i put down 445/497 SAE with a 12/1 air fuel ratio ( really safe)

Im doing a new clutch and light weight flywheel as well as more agressive tune (13/1air/fuel) in the next 7-10 days...

Shootin for 460/510 SAE..

My registration says 3380 pounds. I have since taken out the spare and jack So i assume im around 3360 pounds..Then with my 215 pounds of flubber the total weight comes out to 3575 pounds..

My friends is the slightly heavier 2007 ( wich i beleave is 3180 pounds)...Then he weighs a rock solid 280 pounds..Bringing the total weight to 3460 pounds...

so he will have a 115 pound weight advantage as well as .34 vrs my .45 drag adavantage..As well as a 3.42 vrs my 3.07 gear advantage ( damn GMbuilt a monster LOL)

BUT...as of right now our rwhp should be nearly identical...After my lightweight flywhell/more agressive tune i should have him by around 10 rwhp or so...

And as of right now i have a solid 60 more rwt than he should dyno..And probaly 75 plus more rwhp after the tune/light weight fly wheel..

Im thinking I have a really good shot..What do you think..

BTW please dont compare a 445/497 SAE gen 2 to a gen 3 viper saying my car is identical tyo a SRT10 and will do no better...The gen 2's seem to trap/ET nearly idntical to the SRT10's even though they only dyno 410 rwhp...

Quite a few reviews of stock 405-415 rwhp gen 2's running 11.9-12.3 at 117-121 mph...

like wise theirs quite a few stock SRT 10 reviews of cars running 11.9-12.3 at 118-122 mph...

Again nearly identical.

Your screwed.. Just sell your car and get a 07 Hayabusa or 1400 Ninja. That's a sure win for sure. But if your intent on beating him with what you got, then a shot of Nitrous. A nice TT kit or SC kit should seal the deal!

12:1 ratio is not that safe really, 13:1 is much riskier too. For a 20 rwhp increase F that. Get some ported heads and matched cam from Greg Good for an easy 80-100 rwhp pick up and hand your friend his ass when he asks your sneaky ass to pop the hood so he can see the new blower or nitrous that doesnt exist on the v10. Just a set of some nasty heads which you could never tell existed from looking on the outside-in.

A normally aspirated motor can run 13:1 with no problem. The only thing I can think of is exhaust. A 99 with headers and full exhuast and nothing else can have about 450RWHP. That does include taking out the cats.

Also, if you have a good tuner put some race gas in and increase your timing and lean it out a little and you should be able to get 20 more RWHP and 40-50RWTQ. If you had a vec2 I know I could get you that on a basically stock motor with race gas. I would run 32-33 degrees of total advance from 3500rpm-5500rpm as long as there was no detonation. THat would get er' done with your z06 buddy.

So, if I was in your shoes I would put full exhaust on and get a race gas tune and you would beat him.

Just get used to driving your car and getting the most out of her.
You've got a good chance of winning right now if you can drive.

Oh, make sure to sneak over to your neighbors house and pump up his rear tires to about 45 psi.

I am with Rick on this one, its up to the driver! I beat a C6 Z06 at the track last month.....in my QC SRT10. The vette driver could not break 13.8 in the 1/4 . He had NO IDEA how to drive the dam thing. The C6Z06 is a badass machine, if you want to beat it in your RT, its time to start doing some serious mods.

Stock ZO6's do nut run in the low 11's. At least not when I have been to the track. Maybe there is one or two people who can do it but it is a rarity.

Casey I agree with you, now all he has to do is practice

At 1000 ft elevation in 80 degree hawaiian weather Ive trapped 119-122 mph * according to my Gtech* numerous times...

The first step is going to be to let him run the c6z06 with my Gtech at the same location were ive ran while my car is getting these things installed..

At the exact same 1000 ft 1/4 mile strip location..

-My head /cam auto c5 ran 12.6 at 111

-His 03 cobra ran 13.2 at 107

-My Viper ran 12.2at 122

..so im very intertested to see if he can beat my 12.2 at 122...

REMEMBER...80 degrees..1000 ft elevation and non prepped surface...Im thinking he'll get a 12.1 at 123 tops..BUT IVE BEEN WRONG BEFORE..

JUST TALKED TO THE WIFE AND SHE GAVE ME THE OK TO GET SOME USED HEADERS...

If imgonna loose im taking him down with me..ha ha ha ha ma haaaaa

Well he won't need a supercharger AND N20. Unless your just trying to make the point of if your gonna mod, go as big as you can on your budget.

OUCH..You guys really think so????

I know ive readof them hitting 125-127 for the 2006 models..But I thought the well driven 2007 models were hitting 124-126...

Then I figured here in hawaii he'ed be in the 122-124 range..Meaning my 120-122 could give him a good run now and after the tune/lightweight flywheel we'd be nearly identical?

Well time will tell...My buddies gonna be here in a few days to a week and start throwing the clutch/flywheel on..Then the tune right after..

Prett shore ill hit 123-124 mph trapps at the same location after that..If he still pulls me hard then im gonna start saving for a 08 LOL and return the favor
