EXACTLY..I had my heart set on getting a c6z06..Coming from a brand new 2004 C5 it seemed like most logical step..

I always thought vipers were 100K PLUS cars and out of my range.. then to my amazement I saw that you could get new vipers in the 70-80K range..The same as the c6z06...

I started doing my home work, trying to decide between the SRT10 and c6z06..They were both pretty fast and nice looking..Both about the same price..

I went and looked at a silver SRT10..but hated the color. Then went and looked at a red SRT10..But it had been an rental...

Then went and looked at the c6z06..they wouldnt budge under 90K..75K was my limit...So NOOO WAYYY...

So I went and did some more researchand saw that for big power the SRT10 and C6z06 were both limited to around 600 rwhp safely before you need to start upgrading the engine components..

Red up on the 96-99 en 2's and saw that they could handle 1000 rwhp on the stock engine components safely...Big differance...But i didnt really want an late 90's car coming from a brand new 2004 C5...


Then it happenned. I went to the chevy dealer to check out a black C6z06..To my surprise the black C6z06 was parked outside the dealership with 2 guys checking it out apparently ready for a test drive..But parked 15 ft away from it was an gen 2 red rt10 with the top off. there was a group of people around it and checking it out. They didnt even seem to notice the C6z06...

it was in that moment that I realized just how EXTREME and RAW the gen2's appeared when compared to the SRT10's and c6z06's i had been checking out..then the thought of 700-1000 rwhp on the stock block crossed my mine and a month later it was parked in my driveway

Funny you say that though, because when I had a red RT/10 parked next to a C6 Z06 (not mine), EVERYONE was around the Z06 and then they immediately started asking which one was faster, but we didn't get too much into that for obvious reasons..

And this kind of bitter crying is typical of guys who hate that most of the general populace thinks the viper blows any corvette out of the water (even though they don't - at least for a few more months).

You sound like the guy who approached me in a parking lot and told me "Still not as fast as my 'vette!" while I was putting cases of oil in my trunk. It's called an inferiority complex. Viper rep > Corvette rep. Accept it. The fact people were asking whether a car that's at least 4 years older and a previous generation is as fast as a new car is proof enough. I don't care if your car is marginally faster than mine, you're still driving a dental hygienist's car. I wouldn't buy the Z06 if it were twice as fast and half as much. It looks as if the corvette designers couldn't figure out where to go with it, so they just stole parts off other cars and called it a day. Why didn't they just ask Dodge to sell the viper front end to them and call it a day?

It's going to be hilarious in 3 months when things go back to the way they've always been (the viper blowing the corvette out of the water and looking a hundred times better doing it) and you have to tell people "Yeah, well my car is faster than older vipers!"

Here's a tip, though. Don't go bothering people in parking lots.

Inferiority complex? haha, I sold my SRT-10 for a Z06 and I NEVER looked back. Not saying the Viper wasn't a nice car, but I like the Z06 that much more. And, the fact that the Z06 would whoop in it helped a tad too..

Proof enough for what? That the Viper is a fast car? No one said other wise.
A Mclaren F1 is 1 a decade older than a Z06 and a Viper, your point?

What will be even more hilarious is when the SC Corvette comes back out 1 year later and blows the Viper out, just like the Vet does now to the current Viper. You can talk about looks all you want, but that is all subjective. I know plenty of people that prefer the looks of the Z06 to the Viper, one of the many being me. But that all doesn't matter. I buy what I like, not what others like. I am not Tornado..

You seem to lack reading comprehension. Proof enough the viper has a better reputation than the corvette. To save you another post of dumbfounded confusion, it was referring to your own anecdote.

And yes, an inferiority complex. Why else would you try to insult someone for picking a car based on the way it looks/rarity? Like I said, bitter. The fact you sold your viper to buy a z06 doesn't disprove this fact. You probably just caved to select people telling you your viper was slower than the corvette.

You seriously sound like a ricer. Why don't you just go full circle and sell your z06, buy a 1984 CRX, and dump all the money into making it an 8 second car? As for the supercharged C6, don't you find it somewhat sad that Chevy has to keep adding new tiers of corvettes to keep up with dodge? Fact of the matter is, everything Chevy will do and has done is catch-up. After the "Blue Devil" or "SS" or whatever unoriginally named corvette comes out, Dodge will of course have a response, and Chevy will have to catch up yet again.

PS: Anyone want to posit what the corvette after the new one will be named? I'm putting my vote on "Corvette ZR2-SS-Z07-GT," because being unoriginal isn't unoriginal anymore, it's retro!!!!1111
