I'm still trying to get the right alignment between the transmission and rear end. After taking some measurements last night, I looks like I need to cut the cross member right out so I can lower it some more. Then I'll have to replace the cross member with a custom piece thats lower.

As for the headers, those are going to be fun too. I have the original headers and I was planning on cutting and welding them to fit and then ceramic coating them.

To be honest, I looked at using a 502 or a 572 for this project but it all came down to price. A 572 is almost $20,000 and a 502 is almost $14,000. Then I still need a transmission! I purchased this V10 with a T56 tranny from a dealer in the states for $8,000 used. It came with everything, engine, tranny, pcm, accessories, and wiring harness. Another big selling point was the fact that this enigine is 500hp stock and I can go as high as 700hp without changing any internal engine components. I also went the viper route for the wow factor.

HP: I'd like to know what your hesitations are about putting that engine into that frame?

I'll keep you guys posted on my progress!

Oil pan clearance/interference
steering linkage
motor mounts/torque issues
suspension
I'm sure you can find a solution around these areas, but will they be
practical and will the car be drivable(even as a toy).
Another approach would have been to find a frame/car to put a Viper motor in - rather than vice versa.
Please don't take offence - I admire anyone that takes on challenges and
enjoys working on cars. You might have thought about all the things I'm bringing up - good luck.

Also, the 98 had 450 HP. All Gen II cars (1996-2002) had 450 HP.

I have the engine in place using the original motor mounts from a 98 viper. Check out the pics below of the progress. I had to notch out the oil pan to get the steering to fit. The center link is currently being modified to fit. I'll post more pics when that is done.

Make sure you double check the motor mounts. My car had 13kmi on it and the driver's side mout was torn and the passanger's side was twisted to the point the locking tabs almost touch. Viper motors eat motor mounts.

Welcome to Poly Bushings.com is a good place to get them.

How did you bypass it? Just didn't install it? Any information on removing the evap system would be great! Thanks.

I "think" the later pcm's (01,02) are more picky on the evap code....just like the rear o2's
Are you going to have a check engine light ? If so get it running and see if it throws the code...if not don't worry about it...when you read the codes it may show but if there is no light who cares.

Progress

Here are a few more pics of my progress. I love the look of a smooth firewall!! The tunnel may look large but thats because its got a double wall to act as a scatter shield.

Here is a picture of the pedals I plan to use. The accelerator is from Lokar for a 67 camero. The brake and clutch pedals are repos for a 67 chevelle. I modified the plates to accept the pads from a 2009 dodge charger. I work for a company that produces the pedal assembly for the dodge charger. I liked the pad so much I figured I'd add it to my build!
