haha, you make it sound like you have to hack up the car to make the kit work. I think we all know thats not how you mean to come off but congrats on installing the kit yourself! I bet you cant wait to feel the result!

I was just in the TT ACR at CPE's shop a few weeks back... what a ride that fuggin car is! I cant wait to see the finished product of your beast! Im in the process of looking for a viper right now to get the CPE treatment!

What kind of mesh are you going to install behind those intercoolers that is strong enough to keep it from getting beat up from road debris and not impede flow? Also how often are you going to have to remove the front fascia to clean/blow out the dust etc. out of the intercooler so that you can maintain some sort of efficiency?

The stainless steel mesh is very durable.

After 1200+ miles the mesh and the intercooler core look just like when I put them in.

Everything is working very well.

The company I work for manufactures stainless steel wire cloth and mesh so I am very familiar with what it can and cannot do. I also know how easy aluminum fins bend and clog up with debris and why I am curious why you would install the intercoolers here.

I like the placement of the air inlet filters, but am curious what good all that nice cool air is going to do if the high pressure zone from the rotating tire and debris doesn't allow any air to cross through the intercooler?

I just don't understand how anyone can feel that putting these tiny intercoolers 6" from the rotating tire is a good idea.

Why don't you drive in bumper to bumper traffic or around a roadcourse with your front mount IC and find out?

The side mount IC's are just as easy to clean as a front mount one.

Speaking of airflow, how much air do you think can really flow through through your front mount intercooler with the oil cooler, AC condensor, radiator core, radiator fan shroud and radiator fans behind it?

It's all about pressure differential, at speed, there is quite a bit more pressure on the front side of the side mounted intercooler cores than on the back side.

Depending on what one could test in a wind tunnel, you really cannot say what the rotation of the tires would do to either scavenge or block the air coming through the intercooler core.

I can say my car feels MORE planted at 200+ with the side mounts than with the front mount which would indicate to me the air is going through the cores.

Either way, I am finished answering your questions.

Have a nice day.

Just to add futher to both sides.......

The 1970's Lotus Europa exited the cooling rad into the right hand wheel well, designed for european weather it never gave problems with clogging, despite the amount of crap on our roads. However after a bit of use the rad did start to corrode......salt...water etc. I know....I have one of the little "gems"....not much power or speed to contend with, but Colin Chapman usually made good design decisions

On the front mount, my GTS uses the front mounted intercooler with the cooling rad incorporating the oil and power steering coolers. Approx 1000bhp and no cooling problems after over 10 laps of Silverstone flat out in practice and in the 2006 UK Time Attack series

Looks great! Keep up the good work. And between all these DIY customers Paolo might have to upgrade to a better phone plan soon.

I'm sure it's going to be great once it's installed. But i just cringe at the thought of cutting up my car. I get light headed even if I have to drill a hole somewhere.

Luckily it's only a few holes in the core support like all the other tuners who use front mount intercoolers and not anywhere else!

A core support is replaceable, section of frame are not!
