Gen. I/II Head Units Interchangable?

I'm wanting to upgrade the head unit in my Gen. I, but I don't want an over-the-top unit that screams "STEAL ME!" or distracts from the subtle aesthetics of the interior of the car.

Has anyone every tried to put a Gen. II CD player into a Gen. I? Does anyone know if the swap will work with no rewiring or a simple harness? All I want is a very generic-looking CD player, then if I ever want some more kick I'll just upgrade the hidden components (amp & speakers).

The second part to my 2-part query is; does anyone have a Gen. II CD player laying around? I'm sure lots of you guys have upgraded from the factory stereo and don't plan on selling or going back to stock any time soon. If anyone has one they're willing to get rid of, shoot me a PM with a price.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated, guys. Thanks in advance!

i would bet the wiring harness is different between a gts and an rt10 due to the configuration and setup of the models speakers. best look for a gen2 rt10.
