anyone else see 58mph max in 1st gear

without going over 6000rpm?

someone commented earlier on another thread that you should see 58mph in 1st gear. Im pretty certain my ratios are stock so am i right in thinking i probably would see 58 if i took it into the redline past 6k?
Just was having some fun out on the street (middle of nowhere so very safe)
and couldnt get over 50mph without going over 6k rpm. When does the rev limiter come into play? Didnt want to damage the car by going into the red

ummm ... i dont understand. Just pull that large vertical lever sticking out of the center console towards the rear of the car while pushing the left-most pedal in with your left foot. You should be able to reach 59 mph if you do that.

1ST GEAR RATIO/OVERALL/ (RPM) MPH - 2.66/8.17/ (6000) 53

This is what a search of the net revealed for a stock 98. So, I'm not seeing a problem...

I have a chart that shows with the stock 3.07 rear gear and new stock Michelin Pilot Sports you should get 57 MPH at 6,000 RPM in 1st.

What year do you have? Unless they changed the tranny ratios when they went to 18's (they didn't did they?) 17's should lower top speed in first and also give you a better hole shot, right?

Unless my calculations are incorrect, I think it is the other way around.

335 x .35 = 117.25
117.25 x 2 = 234.5
234.5 + 431.8 = 666.3mm or 26.23" tire diameter for 18s on the rear and 25.58" on the fronts

335 x .30 = 100.5
100.5 x 2 = 201
201 + 457.2 = 658.2mm or 25.91" tire diameter for 17s on the rear and 25.66" on the fronts

The difference, in any event, is minor.
