I was heading along the motorway (highway) bout 8pm and passed a clean silver E39 BMW M5 (400hp V8 model). I thought mm nice car and carried on my way.
5 minutes later i looked in the rearview and the guy was flying up behind me only a few feet off my rear bumper.
You see, cos in the UK our highways are smaller we dont have the room for a semi safe street run so a lot of people in semi powerful cars will fly up your rear and stay there while you try and accelerate away and then claim that you couldnt lose them. Lot of ricer bullshit really but it always happens this way. You never get a 60mph roll on from a 3 count.
So anyway, i pull over a lane while this guy flys alongside, i waited till he was about even with me and dropped a gear to 4th and let her rip. If anything i wanted to check to make sure the car wasnt as down on power as it has been feeling lately. I instantly pulled a car length on him and would have probably pulled another if id kept going but traffic was approaching so i hung back and left him to it. Gave me a flash of the hazard lights and a wave and away they went.
i hear of a lot of supercharged cars in europe but not many are tuned past intake and exhaust in the UK. This car im sure was just stock. still hauled ass though
isnt the e55 one heavy ass car though? The m5 weighed in at something like 3900lbs which isnt too bad all things considered
Just under 4,100 lbs. But it makes that power through a 5-speed automatic. And it makes over 500 lb/ft of torque.
E55's have gone 11.8's at 118-119mph bone stock.

Damn that's awesome for a car with that HP and that much weight bone stock!
Doesn't the viper do a 1/4 mile with less weight and more HP at the same ET?
Yeah...they're pretty quick.
But you have to remember, the automatic in the E55 makes quite a difference. To make that power through a slushbox that doesn't miss shifts, short shift and allows you the abiltity to launch the car more effectively is a huge advantage.
I can launch the car off idle on the street and simply roll into the throttle within the first few feet without obilterating the tires, and it's fucking gone. I had a guy in a new C6 chasing me on 291 in Philly a few weeks ago. By 90 mph, he was 3-4 cars back and fading.

There are a few others that have gone 11.8-11.9. I may have been stretching with 119mph (going by memory), but 117-118mph is pretty realistic.
And I agree that, on average, they'll trap in the 115-116mph range at a decent track in decent air. I live on the east coast, so sea level tracks are the norm here.
