I recently acquired a black '94 RT-10 (stage 3 performance engine) with the soft top.
Man does it sound good. I live in sunny FL... and its a blast to take the top off and just cruise. .... and there in lies the problem. That soft top has to be the BIGGEST PAIN IN THE @SS to take off and even a bigger pain to put back on.
I want to purchase a removable hard top, and through some of the articles I've read, there are compatability issues with the PIN/ROD alignments.
Being new to the viper scene, I am not sure where to start for:
A) Where to look to find a new or used hard top
(not looking to spend several grand either for a custom jobby)
B) how to determine if a hard top will be compatible
C) determining what is a reasonable price
Your help.... your assistance... your viper wisdom is greatly appreciated.
Whats a "stage 3" performance engine?
I'm sure someone will post with a direct link but for now just search the site, you will find threads about it for sure. Every question about a Viper has been answered on here in one way or another.
I did a search through the forum for hard tops. Found a couple amusing stories about some flying off.... while enjoyable to read, I can only imagine how embarrassing it was to experience. I had also read about some problems people encountered trying to use a hard top from a different year than their own car. There were some mention of 'Vipermania' and 'Viperjoe' as well. What I didn't really see though was if there are any default or standard options for the 94 rt-10 hard tops. Do they all have the same fittings? Are there options in terms of the type of fitting or latch you can get? Also, are there certain brands, or manufacturers I should stay clear of? Lastly, what is a decent/reasonable price for a used hardtop? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? I see that Autoform hard tops range from a couple grand, to several more grand
I'm not looking for anything that lavish.
Again, thanks for your input guys... its greatly appreciated.

I guess I have to be l33t and have over 3000 posts to understand whats so funny. Or maybe thats just how the senior people in a forum show how cool they are? Oh wait... maybe thats just how they end up with 3000 posts in the first place... by repeatedly posting retarded useless comments.
Really, I don't get it. I was under the impression it is just a performance package. Places such as West Coast Viper, DC Performance, Doug Levin Motorsports all carry similar packages.... soooo....whats the big deal? What am I missing? Or rather... whats so funny that you ended up on the garage floor rolling around laughing? Educate me...im not a gear-head (hence the word n00b under my name). Or would typing a few more lines out be too much work for ya? I wouldn't want you to get off that cold floor now and stop laughing. God forbid!
Thanks for all the help by the way. I love how useful forums are!
God... ignorance is bliss! LOL... and the bigot's signature says that a whole religion needs sterilization! .... **falls off chair onto the floor and laughs until a disk is herniated**
Ooook... maybe we can get some CONSTRUCTIVE responses back? Or am I wasting my time by not having a fundamental prerequisite knowledge of Vipers prior to posting (I suppose that would undermine my needing to post in the first place...which could in turn allow me to sit on the floor laughing hysterically at other n00b's posts) Wow! I get it now!

I recomend the "Bubble tops".... they look more agressive and allow a little more headroom when wearing a helmet. Yes, they are expensive and you do also need to get windows to match, which can also be expensive. I searched around on GOOGLE but didn't see anything for you. I know someone will point you in the right direction, but you may have some luck with this over on the VCA board.

The "stage 3" mention in your initial post was likely mistaken for ignorant bravado. Had you posted your HP/TQ numbers, no one would have made a stink. Noobs generally take a bit of hazing over here (though it shouldn't be excessively prickly in this forum), so relax (thicken your skin) and enjoy the site.
As for Gen 1 hard tops, a few suppliers have been mentioned. I think autoform also makes them. Unless you're willing to paint and repair yourself, you won't see any for under $1,500. There's someone also making a 3 piece hartop (fits in trunk), but I can't recall if he makes a version for a Gen1.
There's one in our classifieds now for $800.

Wrong path to go down eye, better U turn pretty quick.
He hit it dead on the head of the nail! Many of the quotes have no thought, just blasting it out there. It does serve well to "FOD" the site with comments and adds to the overall number of responses pretty quick.
Maybe on a boring rainy day, I will just sit down and fire out a few thousand responses to get my numbers up.
