viper decision

hello, just joined and need some help. i'm planning on buying a rt 10 in the next few weeks. not sure what year to get. how much faster is new gen. cars than say 93-96. also how does the 93-96 cars compare in performance against a regular 05-07 corvette? what problem area's should i look for in these older cars? the reason i'm considering an older car is the fact that it has depriciated probably almost all it's going to. any help would be greatly appreciated as getting ready to buy. looking foward to talking with the forum members !! thanks in advance.

EXTREMELY HELPFUL ADVICE: go to Viper Club Of America and do not return here.

( if you do not take this advice you will greatly regret your decision, prob end up crying and likely burn in hell )

viper comparison

I try to ignore the ignorant commments on the forum. All forums have those guys.

The 1st gen Vipers are the slowest, the second gen are faster and the third gen are the fastest. That's stock of course. The second gen have forged pistons and modify easily. If you want fast you need to modify. I have a 98 with a Roe supercharger. It's tons faster than a 3rd gen and makes over 700hp.

The problem with the 1st gen is that they don't have outside door handles, side windows or a roof. Not great for travelling, and the Dakota control arms leave much to be desired. 2nd and 3rd gen have aluminium control arms. The 3rd gen have the nicest looking wheels, except for the ACR's which also have an extra 20hp and racing shocks.

I bought a modified 2nd gen with a supercharger, lowering springs, 3" SS exhaust, 3rd gen wheels and then added a few other things (DVD, Belanger headers, HID lights).

The 1st generations also sound like crap and are hot inside the car - some don't have airconditioning which makes it impractical to drive when it's HOT outside.

Ted

if you can afford an 03+ srt get it...its the most comfortable to drive stock and makes the most hp stock...

if you plan on modding 96-99 viper gts/RT10 is the winner

Right you are. And if you wanna go fast with less air trouble, this car is also the winner. The GTS is somewhere among the most aerodynamic cars out there.

The only way someone who sounds this uneducated can own a Ferrari is if Daddy left them some money, or they won the lotto. I hate when retards try to cover up the fact that they are complete morons by telling everyone they own a Ferrari. Well guess what Ferrari owners can be idiots too. Case in point: Tractorsam.

By the way Tractorsam. Socalrebel is not only one of the nicest guys on the forum, he's also the coolest. Just ask anyone!!!!!
