Thumbs up Side Sill Plugs Discovered! :D

Well, not sure if this is worth anything to anyone; but figure I can add some info to the forum.

I took the sills off the other day to do some exhaust work and notice a couple were broken, and I lost another one in the process. So my search began on finding these little bastards. I called the dealership and they list for (get this) 6.00 a PIECE! for these little black plugs

Now, I'm not cheap, but i'm not dumb either....I refuse to pay 35 bucks on 4 plastic sill plugs! So I go to autozone, kragen, pepboys, etc... and nothing will fit our sills.

Its a long shot, but I go to Home Depot and go to the electrical section for plugs. Nothing was there , So my last spot was the nuts/bolts (hardware) section....BINGO, same plug, same dimensions, same texture, same contour, same everything except the color; its white. So, a quick trip to the paint section and some rustoleum plastic flat black and done..!

Can - 4.50
Plugs - .48 / Each

Total costs - about 5 bucks...but I can get hundreds more plugs done

Thanks

-Red

Nice. You may want to try checking out other hardware stores in your area too. I found similar plugs, in black, for a different application at Orchard Supply Hardware. They were in some pull-out trays in the same section as the nuts and bolts.

Ace hardware has them too, in black, EXACT match (including the crinkle finish on top) for like 40c a piece. By the way, how does 4 of them at $6 a piece equal $35?

I'm going to HAVE to argue with you about the " I'm not dumb either" comment above.

4 plugs at $6.00 each = $24.00 (not $35.00)

Futhermore

Paint $4.50 + 4 plugs at $0.48 each = $6.42 or about 6 bucks (not about 5 bucks)

On the other hand thanks for the good info, if I ever need a plug I know where to look.
