Which set up is safer for our vipers? I've heard on a wet system if a selonoid fails booommm! However, i've heard negative comments on the dry system as well. thanks in advance!
i like wet for safety but if you do your homework and put the safety items on, its gonna be pretty safe. the only true 100% safe with nitrous is not to run it...
i was pretty scared too before i started using it. but like most things, more i you do something the more confident ya get with it.
if you want a nice way to spray nitrous i have my old tubes for sale in the classifieds here.
buy an nx kit and go wet all day long. if you know anything about wiring then it is a cake install really. either way, as long as you have nitrous injecting under wide open throttle only you are not doing any damage provided you stay with the jetting they suggest for the recommended shot.
also remember that we are talking about injecting the blend before the TB's so even if it jammed in the open position you let off the gas pedal and the butterfly shuts off the gas nitro mix from even reaching combustion, if you go direct port into the manifold then yes a stuck soliniod could pool the gas and cause the boom you mention, but not a likely senario.
If you are more northern you will need to put a bottle heater on the propane tank. that scares a lot of people.
its a heater not an open flame, you think its any different having it sit under your bar b que on a 90 degree summer day while you cook at a temp of 450 degrees directly on top of it. Just dont be a douchbag heating it with a torch and it is safe as can be.
im not great with wiring and i thought it was very easy to install. i took my time and asked a few questions aliong the way and got the right answers from people here.
ahh fuck it i was trying to save myself the trouble of typing a book here but oh well. If while activated the fuel sprayer sticks on or open, the only thing that will occur is a rich condition which you would notice before anything serious happened. remember if your spraying before the TB you are much much safer. the butterfly acts like a wall if something unlikely occured by simply letting off the gas.if it is the flip side and the nitrous sticks open or on your condition will be lean because all nitrous does is cool the intake charge and create a way for the motor to combust the added fuel you introduce. that is it. again if you are spraying before the throttle bodies like 99.9% of the vipers out there then it is no worry.
I'm saying if you are at WOT and the fuel solenoid does not open, your mixture will go very lean and depending the amount of juice you are spraying you will fry a piston before you know what's going on.
PRVT JET had a nitrous solenoid fail open (pre TB system, old solenoid). It was not fully open more leaking. Was on highway. He pushed in the clutch and the car just idled high till the bottle emptied....which didn't take long.
like plum said, and i thought i did too... the fuel pressure safety switch included with the kit will prevent that damage to the motor you are concerned with.
usually the boom people get is a when you get a fule pump hiccup and spray N2 without the proper amount of fuel enrichment. N2 is like adding more air. You will get a manifold pop if your fuel pump hiccups. The NX kits have nozzels that are on the rich side so that is not a real concern unless you try to run a 300 shot with a stock fuel pump. Then you are at the margin of the pumps capacity and one slight hiccup and pop.
