A SOLID 6 sec Viper that can bang off pass after pass like this car does 7's would require obviously bigger turbo's like 47-88's and if possible a more radical engine build. Nothing against this ride of course, to raise the bar like it did with those smooth passes is and then some.

Chris, Bigger turbos on those cars will not make them go 6's.
The power is not what's holding these guys back!
How much more radical of an engine build is there than a 575" solid roller cam motor revving to 7K?
Both Lee's and Sal's cars make more than enough power to go 6's.
It is a matter of putting the power to the ground.

Great job guys! Keep pushing the envelope!
Paolo, as I stated earlier in this thread this car has a 510, which is a stock crankshaft and stock cylinder liners in a stock block. Sal's car has the 575. This engine combination is not very radical at all. The car drives very nicely on the street. So contradictory to your belief, the engine combo could be a lot more radical.

Jason, I was not saying Lee's motor was all that radical.
I am sure it drives nicely on the street for a 4-link drag car rear suspension setup.
I was just pointing out to V4C that Sal's motor is a fair amount more radical than a 510, with a stock crankshaft and stock cylinder liners in a stock block.
Like I said, BOTH cars make more than enough power to go 6's.
Both are awesome for what they are intended to do.
Dude, there is a big difference in gaining .2 in the 1/4 from 7.80 to 7.60, then say 9.80 to 9.60. To drop over half a second, once already in the 7's, almost impossible (meaning within the same year of accomplishing the first)
Some folks can't grasp that concept
I mean 2/10ths is still just 2/10ths right.
Thanks guys. We ran this car at the U/S. Street Nationals this weekend in the "Heavy Street" class which is basically an anything goes must weigh over 350 class. We qualified 8th with a 7.95 with a best E.T. during eliminations of a 7.86. By the end of the weekend our tires started to go away and we were put out in the quarter final round. None the less it was pretty cool to see a Viper racing competitively with Camaros and Mustangs. The number one qualifier in our class was a 69 Camaro with a 636 inch engine sporting twin 91's and alchohol injection. This monster had three 160 lb injectors per cylinder! He qualified with a 7.31 and ran a 6.99 @ 200 during eliminations. We knew we would not likely win the class but Lee was very excited to just be in the game.
We hope to have this car back out later this week and try to go some 7.60's or 7.50's. I'll post an update later this week.
Accomplishing this feat with major stock engine components is nothing short of a miracle. Keep up the good work!
We can all also agree the V4C should stick to his bicycle and STFU. He clearly doesn't have a clue what he is talking about.
Someone needs to modify the IGNORE feature to ignore quoted text from V4C as well.
Back to our regularly scheduled congratulations... where are the pics?
JD
Thanks again JD for telling me what I know and what I dont. So I'm not allowed to post thoughts about a car on public viewed form? Hey if Hot Rod, and Lee can find a way to somehow squeeze a 6 out of the current set up... great more power to them. I just dont see it happening unless more things are changed on the car. As far as I know, this is the FIRST true V-10 TT solid rear set up for specific drag. So I'm sure there will be more learned along the way. And I made the comment about more power because I was aware of the difference of motor builds that Heff posted above. Personally I dont think the current set up has 6 sec times in it, but so what? I'm more then sure at some point a big V-10 TT Viper will hit a 6 under the right conditions.
A mid to low 7 would be awesome to see out of a true V-10 Viper powered car.
