shifting problems

I don't post much but i just purchased a 95 viper on flea bay. The car has the dc performance clutch and flywheel assembly and is nearly brand new(approximately 2500 miles). It is very difficult to shift in any gear. Additionally, when the car is off its easy to shift gears. When trying to accelerate hard in any gear it becomes nearly impossible to shift at a higher rpm.
any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated!

can be a number of things. I was noticing some shifting problems due to beat up motor mounts rocking the engine left to right under heavy load. This lifts the shifter and it does the same. Can make finding the next higher gear a bitch if they were as bad as mine were. New mounts stabilized my shifter and made the action very smooth. A bent shift fork will also cause the issue you are having, usually from power shifting the car. Take it to a good viper tuner because for them to duplicate the problem it means a sporting test drive to replicate what you are seeing. Go to a guy you know has driven these cars before because I really hate reading those monday morning threads that start out... Dealer Tech Totalled My Car This Weekend

You can start with the easy stuff flush clutch fluid(DOT 4 brake fluid) and drain/replace trans fluid(Dextron III), but I would bet you might have to take out the clutch and replace it with a stock one. Post up when you figure it out.

Thanks fellas, I signed up about three years ago and have been lurking on this site ever since. I took the viper in to the dealership yesterday and they have a certified viper tech. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope it doesnt get too expensive.

What advantage is there by going back to a stock clutch and how much hp can the stock clutch take? I eventually plan on doing alot of bolt ons (exhaust, rocker arms, headwork and nos)

You might want to ask what the cost will be upfront or you're going to get a BIG surprise. It's very easy to do it yourself. Do you have a manual?

The stock clutch will hold up to 600-650 RWHP. At least for me it did. After that, you'll want to upgrade.
